Good enough for a fun time that’s about it
Course layout is cool, lot of uphills and going through streets to get to next hole and the layout of the holes are nice. Most of the tee boxes are pretty bad and the greens are bad, lots of divots and sand where there should be green, putts cannot roll well on any green due to inconsistency from holes. Overall decent course if you are looking to just have fun and challenge yourself a little however not worth the money IMO.
Very poor course conditions
Need to work on fixing the greens, fairways and tee boxes.
Great local course
I always enjoy playing at Montclair even though its a difficult course to play. Some of the holes are narrow so I lose a lot of balls in the woods but that has helped me focus more on hitting straight. Everyone on the staff is very friendly and courteous. The greens could use some work but I've seen multiple courses this summer with rough greens that charge more $$. Overall its my favorite local course. The price works, the staff is always friendly and its helping me get better at golf.
Needs Lots of Course Maintenance
Played this course several times about 8 years ago and it was so nice we bought a home in the community on our return from overseas. Looking at the course now it has fallen in serious disrepair and maintenance. Greens are servely patchy, and tee boxes are practically void of grass on the common tees. Although I live in the neighborhood, we are seeking other courses to maximize our enjoyment. Costs here should be in the $10-15 range. One perk: Carts are in great shape.
Expensive relative to quality
Course conditions were quite bad - sandy or muddy greens with large holes were common and the rough was patchy with crab grass.
The conditions added to the challenge of the narrow and winding holes resulting very difficult and unpredictable play in situations that already required precision
Never again
Tee boxes were either dirt or sand. Most greens are in tough shape and hard to putt through some spots. The design of the tees is very fifficult on some holes. Lots of hilly paths thst are in poor condition.
Greens were in horrible condition (bare dirt spots, weeds, bumps, etc ) on many holes. Very challenging course to begin with, but this created an additional challenge that didn’t need to be there. Many of the tee boxes were less than desirable as well. For the pricier round, you’d expect better kept green complexes.
Glorified driving range
If you are interested in hitting with irons and your driver, but not putting at all, this is the overpriced driving range you are looking for. There are more bald spots than grass on the putting greens. It’s so bad they scalped the fairway on the 18th hole and made a separate green completely (which is also dead). If you golf here, you will be upset and regret your decision. Maybe next year it will be better, but isn’t worth $10.00 a round in its current condition.
Unfortunate Conditions
As the title says, the conditions of the course are unfortunate. The greens got hit with a disease that is causing them to rot and get big weeds. Even though they work fully booked, the pace of play was great. It never felt like anyone was behind us.
Terrible greens
The greens are awful, you can't putt on them. The greens grass is as long as the fairway grass. The tee boxes are like hitting out of a bunker. You couldn't pay me to play this course again.
Save your money
For now save your money
Tees are lacking any sort of maintenance
Greens are atrocious (like it’s really bad)
Golf cart also died on me by hole 8
Just spend an extra 15-20 and go somewhere else until they actually spend some money on this course smh
