Course looked and was in good shape
Course was in very good shape even with the lack of rain. Roughs were a bit deep and pin placement of a few ho;les was rediculously hard. I know it was a weekday and that was why. Snack bar was good and staf was very friendly. My only grip, and a big one, was that there was not ONE DROP of water on the course for the golfers and it was noty made known prior to starting. Extremely hot and made for a very thirsty round.
Disappointed with Staff
I came in to hit some balls on the driving range, I asked if it was too late to go out for 9 holes - it was 5:15 on a Saturday (8/15). I was told it was too late to go out. I said okay, took him at his word. As I hit balls on the range I noticed a number of people go to the first tee box to start 9 holes. Because there was a 20-30 minutes lapse in time before they got there I knew I could’ve went out for 9 holes. I’m also a Modern Member. Not sure why it happened, all I wanted to do was play 9 holes, it wasn’t busy. I’m the last person to insert race into a situation but I’m African American and everyone that was allowed to play when I was told they were closed were white. I was disappointed because I assumed fairness was enforced on the golf course. It was a rude awakening, I went back in and asked why were they allowed to play and I wasn’t, all he could say was they needed to be back by 7:45. I clearly would’ve been back at least 45 minutes to an hour before 7:45. Hopefully, this gentlemen was not a reflection of the staff and how they do business. I like going there and this experience truly made me upset enough to write this review. They really need to do better, I hope no other golfer has this experience…. It was demeaning, upsetting and insulting. As a retired Marine Officer - it truly set me back on my heels as I have never really experienced anything like this on any golf course I’ve ever played on.
Great course condition!
Course was in superb condition. Continuing improvement on the tee boxes and greens were nice. Very subtle breaks , quick on most holes but surface still held the ball on shots.
Great course
Course was in great shape. Only complaint was it was super busy, we were stacked up 3 deep most of the time. But overall really liked the course.
Fairways Dry, maybe too many faiway hills,
Challenging course, nice layout but, too many hills in prime faiway positions. Greens ok. Pace of play great. Tee boxes a little chewed up.
Good. Not great.
Interesting course. Short but no forgiveness off the fairways. Huge elevation changes. Greens far exceeded expectations and rolled true but slowish. Fairways were decent but ground was hard. Some tee boxes were awful, but that was the minority. Overall a track worth playing at the price point they offer. Staff was great!
Love the layout
I always enjoy playing Forest Greens because of the layout. Plenty of doglegs, and elevation changes. Course is in good shape, especially the greens. Bunkers have nice white sand. Fairways can sometimes need a lot of warm weather to fill in (Bermuda Grass). They were very acceptable for my round. Staff is very nice. Overall a great golfing experience.
Great course, very good condition
Really enjoyed Forest Greens and it was a good value. A few tee boxes needed help but beyond that really great condition. A few blind shot holes that could use a bell as well. But overall very enjoyable, staff was friendly and the pace was good for a busy Thursday morning.
good value for the money
It is a good value for the money. You will get some people with little golf etiquette ( hitting the ball behind you too soon ), I think, because it is reasonably priced
Great day
This course is a beautiful laid out course. The course is all hills and has a high slope rating making it very challenging for beginners. It is not a flat course. Pace of play was good although we did have one twosome decide to go ahead of us on hole 13 and we ended up waiting for them to tee of on 15 because there was another group still playing 14. We finished our round in 4hr and 30mins. The tee boxes I felt need a little more TLC, fairways and greens were in good condition. Value for the round was great!
Excellent Experience!!
Forest Green is one of two Prince William County Courses and for a public course is in excellent condition, with a degree of difficulty that will challenge any experienced player, yet not frustrate a high-handicapper. A perfect mix.
