Great golf value
Coyote Creek Tournament course is a gem. It is a "must play" destination in Silicon Valley. The cost is very attractive!
Try it!!
Great value for miney
Pace of play was a little slow, picked up a little on back 9 when a twosome in front dropped out.
Greens were in great shape.
The local rule of no penalty when your ball goes in the rough is crazy and therefore good play is not rewarded (drop out and play with no penalty).
Course is a good play!
The course is in lovely shape except for the bunkers....there is no sand in them ...in process of being redone in the future....course is very challenging and greens run fast...approach shots from any distance are very hard to hold the greens ...you end up in 3 inch rough....a fun play for sure!!
Seattle Impressed by Coyote
I played this course on two days during a week. Both rounds in the afternoon. Great course, very well laid out and a very fair test of golf. There were no boring holes, truly worthy of a Jack N design. Only gripe I have was pace of play; both rounds 4.5+ hours on a Monday & Wednesday teeing off around noon. My suggestion is to have a marshal move the slow pokes along, saw a lot of ball collecting going on. Overall great course would recommend to all players, true gem.
Great Course
Loved the course, the carts have GPS built in to assist with rangefinding. Be careful as the rough contains some poisonous plants and I'm still itching due to a rash from some contact. Won't keep me from coming back, just wish I had some prior warning.
Can't wait to come back and play again.
Coyote Creek Tournament Course/Test your game
I pass by the Coyote Creek Golf Club everyday on my way to work; the standard green fees are towards my high limit, and I had heard that the Tournament Course is challenging, but I wanted to see where my game is on a first rate track. I found a good deal on Golf Now for $49.00 on a Saturday, so I booked the tee time as a single player. I was paired up with 3 other players.
The staff/facility is top notch for a public course. Great practice areas. The carts have a full screen GPS unit with the usual front/center/back yardages. The course is a great test of your skills to see what your strengths and weaknesses are. Every hole presents a challenge in some way, either right off the tee with your tee shot, or in your approaches to the undulating/hidden greens. Basically the course will shock you into reality of where you game plays (like it did for me) on a course that is really appropriate for 10 or better handicapper. The first 8 holes of the Tournament course will challenge you to bring your A-game. Every shot in your bag will be tested; not in a punishing/penal way, but more about forcing you to think about where you want to hit the ball, and having the skill to execute the shot (more practice rounds for me) All in all, Coyote Creek is a stiff challenge, but the quality of the facility and staff/food and beverage will more than make up for the bumps and bruises the course will give you.
The Valley Course is currently closed for repair. It is supposed to be more forgiving; I will give it a run on my next visit to Coyote Creek GC>
No wind!
Played in the afternoon on an unusually calm day in under 4 hours. The sand traps could use some work but that is in the works. Otherwise, the Tourney course was in great shape.
OK value for the money
I live about 90 miles away, so the drive - especially the return trip took nearly 3 hours (during commute traffic), so I wasn't happy about committing to play there, drive 200 miles and spend about 5 hours in the car. If I lived near the course, I'd play it often enough. Course layout was strange - I'd guess they re-numbered the holes now that they have 2 18 hole courses. One course was closed due to trap maintenance. Many "environmental areas" which don't allow you to enter the area. This speeds up play but can cost you a lot of balls if you don't hit the target areas. Fast greens take some getting used to. Overall, a nice course to play.
Very challenging course
I have driven by the course a thousand time but finally decided to play it. Fortunately, my partner and I paired up with a twosome that had played the course many times and could tell us what to do and not to do. Of course know what to do and doing it are not always the same thing. Many of the holes have severe trouble layed out far from the green which makes things difficult. I would hit a good drive and then have to lay up with a short iron or go for a BIG (for me) 210 yd shot to carry the trouble. We did play from the blue tees and maybe should have played whites but I hit drives 240ish so usually can handle the blue tees. I plan to score better next time now that I have seen the layout and can play smarter? or not
coyote crk, tournament course
course conditions were very good, weather was very good March. Thanks to golf now we were able to get good rate on green fees ($52). they have new gps system in the carts which are nice, but cart turned off twice during round as it thought we were in restricted area when we were on a cart path (cart came back on after couple min.). Great course in fees are kept reasonable.
Great round
Tournament course is a Great course Always a challenge. And they also updated their GPS system which is great and accurate
Nice course
The course is nice but is in desperate need of new sand in the bunkers! Every bunker I was in only had about a quarter inch of sand in it so it was very difficult to hit a decent bunker shot.
Loud
It was loud, incredibly windy, and terrible sand. The greens were nice but overall I've had a better time at other places that cost less.
Grass condition excellent!
It definitely wasn't very scenic, but the course conditions made up for it. Long challenging holes mixed up with shorter ones that had plenty of sand and water around to make it just as hard. If you have the 80 bux to drop on a round of golf, i strongly suggest playing the tournament course. Haven't played Valley yet, the people i played with said it was slightly easier, will be finding out next time i head out there!
Winter Get Away
First game of the season. The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape and the greens were pretty fast. Overall had a great time at this course although we got stuck behind a foursome that would not let us play through., we were only two players.
hsrd to enjoy this course
Do not care for Jack Nickilas course desigs and this tourn couse is no difrent. He tricks up his courses to where it takes the fun out of the game.
Valley course ok
Valley course at Coyote Creek is not as difficult or interesting as the Tournament course. Conditions are good, but again, not as great as Tournament (which is fantastic). This course can be walked while the Tournament Course does not allow walkers. Pace of play was a bit of a problem on the back nine. Overall, I would rather play the Tournament Course since the prices are basically the same.
Tournament Course excellent
Outstanding conditions -- greens are in particularly great shape. Pace of play was fine as not too many people were out there. Tricky course if you don't have local knowledge/experience, but not unfair.
