Grass condition excellent!
It definitely wasn't very scenic, but the course conditions made up for it. Long challenging holes mixed up with shorter ones that had plenty of sand and water around to make it just as hard. If you have the 80 bux to drop on a round of golf, i strongly suggest playing the tournament course. Haven't played Valley yet, the people i played with said it was slightly easier, will be finding out next time i head out there!
Winter Get Away
First game of the season. The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape and the greens were pretty fast. Overall had a great time at this course although we got stuck behind a foursome that would not let us play through., we were only two players.
hsrd to enjoy this course
Do not care for Jack Nickilas course desigs and this tourn couse is no difrent. He tricks up his courses to where it takes the fun out of the game.
Valley course ok
Valley course at Coyote Creek is not as difficult or interesting as the Tournament course. Conditions are good, but again, not as great as Tournament (which is fantastic). This course can be walked while the Tournament Course does not allow walkers. Pace of play was a bit of a problem on the back nine. Overall, I would rather play the Tournament Course since the prices are basically the same.
Tournament Course excellent
Outstanding conditions -- greens are in particularly great shape. Pace of play was fine as not too many people were out there. Tricky course if you don't have local knowledge/experience, but not unfair.
No Push Over
This is a great course that just keeps coming at you. Many holes require very accurate tee shots. Greens were in great shape. Make a note that many putts do not require as much break as you might think. Unless you are striping it perfectly, be prepared to take an extra club on many shots. Down notes would be noise from the freeway on some holes and the many environmental areas on the front 9. You've got to avoid them because you cannot go after your ball if you hit in them.
Very nice course in SJ
Booked round with Golfnow for $50, which was a great value for the weekday. Course conditions were excellent, except the bunkers. Greens were fast and tricky, but great condition. Fairways and tee boxes were nice, too. The only issue I had was the bunkers. There really isn't much sand in there. Kind of hitting out of mud with some top dressing of sand. I did hear Coyote Creek will undergo a renovation. I'm sure the bunkers will be much better afterwards. Overall, I gave it 4 stars. Highly recommend!
excellent true rolling greens
miss the whole color flags on green for pin placement also was told by starter free drop from all areas stakes with green tops
It's a tough one JACK!
It's long and the green are tough. It is one of the toughest Nicklaus courses I've played. I loved it.
Coyote's Better Half
Greens were in great condition, rolled true. Sand traps on the other hand were very thin. Hit very hard rock like surface under just a film of sand. The holes on the east side of Hwy 101 had alot of charector. Distinguishing this course from the Valley Course.
tournement course
Spectacular over all. Greens rolled perfectly. The starters are at times disorganized and you have to really work to pair up with other singles or non foursomes.
Great course for the money
I booked this course last minute for a round between a few friends and I. We had previously played on the valley course so this proved to have a few more challenges to it. However, the pace of play was quite good and we enjoyed the quality of the course. The club has done a good job maintaining it and keeping it in better than playable shape.
Great conditions
Enjoyed the round and the course is in excellent condition.
Overall good
Overall great course. Sand traps are in poor condition. (More like dirt instead of sand).
In the Wind!
Played the Tournament course. Very very Windy! need to play as early as possible. All sand traps are very Dirty and have rocks........Kind of weird having the freeway in between the holes. Also there was no sand/seed in the golf cart containers. I also haven't had to sign out for a golf cart anywhere else......
Greens are hard to read
This Tournament course, the one I played, is in fabulous condition and being able to hit longer shots is definitely an advantage but once on the green pay attention to the breaks on others puts and realize the course is built near the bottom of some low sloping hills that people tend not to see. You need to look at the bigger picture to determine how your ball will break and not just the obvious slopes on the greens themselves.
perfect greens!
The tournament course is in fantastic shape. The greens are perfect, the bunkers perfect, the fairways are nearly perfect, as good as possible given the rains we had. They let carts on the fairway and the grass held up well. Jack Nicklaus design with the normal difficult first hole and no really easy holes. A lot of greens are hard to hit. I'm a 2 handicap and had to make a lot of putts to shoot 76. I like that challenge.
Tough course
Several days had past by since the last rain and we thought the course would have been in decent condition, but it was still quite wet. Not sure if someone ran the sprinklers the night before, or not , but clearly a mistake if they did, or simply poor drainage. Very tough course first time out, especially due to wetness, cold and wind . Need to play very close attention to the GPS for blind hazards for lay up shots.
Great time.
Had a great time playing this course. Only reason for 4stars on course was due to all the rain we've had lately. Given that it was in great shape.
Great variety
Play the tournament course at Coyote Creek for a great variety of holes from hitting over trees to the green on the front nine to playing over water on the back.
