Dissapointed.

i liked the course's layout. The greens were just sanded which i didn't find out until the first green and AFTER paying a full green fee. The only other really poor aspect was that the bunkers are more like sand/mud bogs which is an unbelievable oversight at a course with jack nicklaus' name advertised. Fairways were also soaked which seemed odd as it hadn't rained lately. The area is windy but nonetheless it is a fun design so I'd play it again after checking the green situation.

The pace of play was terrible! Really, very slow. Needs marshals

In need of Marshals and Divot Police

Let me start by saying the overall condition of the course is good, for a public track, although they REALLY NEED a crew to just fill divots on the fairways. I went through a full bottle of sand and seed walking on #5, from the tee to just past the tree in the fairway.
We were behind a 4some (with power carts). There were 3 of us and I was walking, the other 2 were in a cart. We had to wait for them on EVERY shot. Did I mention we were teeing from the tips and they were from the whites, and did I mention I was walking?

Anyhow, this group waited for each person to hit their ball before advancing to the next. This would have been fine if all 4 were within yards of each other, but they weren't. They couldn't be further apart. The closest group ahead of them was nowhere in sight.
As for the Marshal? What marshal? The pace of this groups play caused 2 groups behind us to be on our heels.

No common sense to let faster players through. This is the job for the Marshals to speed up the pace of play. What should of been 3.5 hours, turned out to be just shy of 5.

*** on a side note $7 for 30 dirty and worn range balls is a bit steep.

Valley course

Valley course is fun, couple of tough par 3's. A few groundhogs. A par 5 with an oak tree in the fairway should be removed. Fun course though. #10 into the wind is too difficult for the average golfer the tee box should be moved up 20 yards everyday and make the creek at the end of the fairway Risk-Reward, could be a great short par 4. Overall good course but a few small changes would make it really good. #11 could be a great hole if there was a sand trap all the way down the left fairway to force everyone to the right side of the fairway and punish shots left. I will play it again. Tournament course is definitely more challenging.

nice course and staff

Played Sat-4/6. Definitely top notch facility. Played the Tournament course. Great shape, greens little slow and bumpy but they are about to punch em so I give that a pass. Pace was great until we hit 11. Got behind a 3 some that had no idea of the concept of "let faster players thru" ruined the back for us.On pace to finish in 3 1/2 hours took almost 5. It's just killin golf!

Couple observations:
1-when I pay $100+ green fee I expect my range balls to be included, not charged another 10 bucks at the range.
2-marshalls the courses, not just drive around saying hi.
3-Kill all the geese. On the back the greens were littered with their droppings. Had to putt thru it, got all over our shoes. Gross.
