This is the kind of place the locals actually play. The kind of place that offers regular Sunday champagne brunches and New Year's Eve parties in the clubhouse. Mesquite's low green fees bring them in (under $100 even in Palm Springs' ultra expensive peak season). Its mountain backgrounds and golf along the bottom of a streambed are what bring them back.
Mesquite Golf and Country Club in Palm Springs isn't a long course by any stretch of today's standards. It comes in at 6,312 yards from the back tees. Locals find that fits just right. Again, it's Palm Springs. Many of the locals are cashing retirement checks between drives. A little shorter does not necessarily mean uninteresting though.
There are eight small lakes out on Mesquite and when the water's running in the stream it plays with some kick. At the same time, it's very friendly to women, seniors, anyone who finds distance to be a challenge. The 366-yard par-4 ninth is illustrative of a course that regularly lets average hackers go for the green.

Given up
Run down. At time of year when courses are supposed to be in the best shape? This place was nothing but bare patches in the fairways and the greens! All water hazards are now gone and are becoming trash receptacles". No divot repair bottles on the carts. Too bad.
Mesquite Golf course.
Course was in good condition and staff were friendly and considerate to the golfers while doing their daily maintenance.
Course condition fair
Course played fast finishing 18 in 3 hrs. Back nine course was kinda hammered w temporary made up tee boxes on 10,16-18. Course condition was fair.
First time at this course. The staff was very friendly. Lots of workers on the course doing maintenance. They were also very accommodating. Some bridges are still out so we had to walk around. Would definitely recommend this course.
Location is good for Palm Springs
This course is in desperate need of cleaning and grooming. I’ve played here many times when I’ve come into town and have never seen it in such need of care. I’ll check back because I really do like the place. Hopefully there will be some great improvements...
Terrible course
Played last year and got a discount because the greens were being worked on. Looking forward to seeing the new greens and was disappointed that the the greens looked worse. The dying greens with dry rot is killing any putting hopes and the fairways were in kept and ball eaters It’s going to take a couple years at least to fix
OK
The course is in very difficult shape but it seems they are trying to improve. We enjoyed our round and it was a good value.
Great course REVIVED... NEEDS CUTTING, ROLLING, ALCOHOL and it will be a staple in downtown PALM SPRINGS AGAIN
Great course a couple years back... they just reopened... they need to cut, roll and trim the greens... fix some of the dark spots and the dead spots... get a BEER AND LIQUOR LICENSE and reopen the bar.... this place could be a HUGE success with a restaurant and bar... LIKE IT USED TO BE
Don't bother
We couldn't even play one hole because the guys working on the sand trap in front of the green parked their truck and trailer there. They ignored us so we ended up skipping that hole. Fairways needed mowing and greens were rough.
Needs work
The course needs alot of work looks like grass has not been cut for years. The signs dont make any sence when instructed to next holes and for hole 16 you had to drive from the 10th hole and the bridges are not maintained im surprised it has not collasped.
Sad
I’m sorry to give a bad review for any course but it was as bad as it gets!
This course should not be open
This place should not be open. Looks NOTHING like pictures. They don’t have mowers. the tee boxes are rough, the fairways are super long, there are Palm leaves and branches everywhere. I lost 5 balls on the front 9 in general area rough. I had enough at the turn and asked for a full refund which I had to plea my case for. Finally they did it but please don’t waste your time or money. As Al Chervik said “This place sucks”
Wait!!
I don’t want to be mean because the folks that work at Mesquite are awesome. It’s just that the course is horrible. I played it a few times last year and it was just “okay”. Forgivable then as they just had a horrible flood that basically destroyed the whole back nine. This year, however is less forgivable (I’ll forgive them a little as a lot of courses in the desert are just now opening after overseeding) overgrown tee boxes...dead spots and holes all over the fairways and the greens not even worth taking your putter from the bag. I lost so many balls in the rough that I started using range balls instead. Even at $36 for a resident it was not worth the money nor the frustration
Poor condition
Not worth the amount they charge. Course is horrible tee box’s are not cut and green are the worse they are shaved. Please go spend your money somewhere else.
Thank you so much for the great rating. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Mesquite Golf & Country Club.
