This is the kind of place the locals actually play. The kind of place that offers regular Sunday champagne brunches and New Year's Eve parties in the clubhouse. Mesquite's low green fees bring them in (under $100 even in Palm Springs' ultra expensive peak season). Its mountain backgrounds and golf along the bottom of a streambed are what bring them back.
Mesquite Golf and Country Club in Palm Springs isn't a long course by any stretch of today's standards. It comes in at 6,312 yards from the back tees. Locals find that fits just right. Again, it's Palm Springs. Many of the locals are cashing retirement checks between drives. A little shorter does not necessarily mean uninteresting though.
There are eight small lakes out on Mesquite and when the water's running in the stream it plays with some kick. At the same time, it's very friendly to women, seniors, anyone who finds distance to be a challenge. The 366-yard par-4 ninth is illustrative of a course that regularly lets average hackers go for the green.

Great value
I'm not one of the guys can afford to regularly play the expensive courses. I was very pleased with the design and play ability and for 50 bucks had a great time.
A bit of everything
I enjoyed the course. I liked the layout as the course offered variety of shots. I also thought the staff was very friendly and helpful. But I hope the course talks to the guys placing the pins on the greens. Placing them on a crest of a hill might look fun, but that's just childish. Not to mention what that does to the pace of play.
Outstanding value
Course was in decent shape, the greens were good, and pace was excellent. There were some very interesting holes, especially on the back 9, and it’s obvious that ownership is working to improve conditions. I will definitely be back
Mesquite in March
This was our first time playing this year. So we were happy that we were not rushed. The woman who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful. Because they had some open space in the schedule she let us tee off early. The course was a bit dry ,but the greens were in very good condition. We finished in under 4 hours and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Greens were in rough shape. Good layout. Pave of play was very good. Played in a foursome in 3 hours and 40 minutes.
Very poor condition
The entire course & complex is run down and should be avoided...... :- (
A bite of Mesquite
Course is in excellent condition….fairways and greens. If you’re not usually on the fairway, you can get in trouble often. Lots of sand waste area!!
In rough shape
I had not played Mesquite before, but a friend suggested it. The course is minimally maintained. Mowed, but not much else. Traps are in waste bunker condition. Greens are fair but slow. Minimal clubhouse, no liquor liscence.
I won’t be going back.
