Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course
About
Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course is situated along the banks of the Sacramento River. The course has a diverse layout with a few tough holes, but overall it's player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. Accuracy and proper club selection are two major factors to scoring well on this golf course. This is especially true on the par-4 sixth, which has a large lake that makes cutting the corner a near impossibility. Too far left and you'll face a watery grave on this tough hole. That is not the only challenging water hole you'll face, though. Bartley Cavanaugh's 17th is the golf course's signature. Although this par 3 is seemingly mild at only 107 yards, it shouldn't be underestimated since it was modeled after the notorious island green hole at TPC Sawgrass.

Overbooked & unsafe but in good shape
This course is close to my house and I went there a few times in the late summer to sneak in a quick round. A quick round has not been the case the past couple times out here. Nowadays there are at least 3 groups on #1 when I go and this course stays backed up from there.
Not only are the golfers stacked together but the holes are too. Someone is typically in your fairway playing to another hole. The scream of "FORE!!!" can be heard throughout the round. This is good for the hackers out there since you will most likely be able to play your ball after most errant shots (unless you miss left on a few holes and wind up on the highway or in a field)
The course was in pretty good shape and the greens were outstanding. They have done some seeding lately to patch some troubled spots off of the fairway.
The price I paid on GNW was well worth all the trouble but I will not be going back anytime soon due to the pace of play. I always play weekdays(Mon or Tues usually) so there is no excuse for such delays.
Greens were very good
I have played here in the past, over a year ago, and must say the greens were in very good shape.
Good greens
Slow players everywhere and picking up my balls before I get to it.
The staff is terrible. They just put one group out after another, allowed a group of six to play together. I will not be back there.
Be ready to pay little for the course but huge cart fee. The staff was less than professional. The course is not managed well. I will not be back and I will not recommend it.
Fast immaculate greens, well-groomed fairways
Only real challenge is the wind which can make one of the back nine par 4s play like a 5.
GREAT CONDITION, FUN COURSE, GOOD VALUE
CONDITIONS: FAIRWAY - GREAT; GREENS - GOOD. FUN COURSE W/ HILLY AND WATER LAYOUT; EASY CHALLENGE FOR BOGEY GOLFER.
The course was in good condition and the greens were in very good condition.
The course was in good condition and the greens were in even better condition. For a course with not a ton of land they made the most out of what they had.
I play this course every month or so and always seem to play well here. Not to many trees but there are quite a few mogals to weave your way around.
See you in another few weeks.
nice greens
well maintained greens. Need improvements on the tee box (grass) & fairways.
To build a golf course on a flat piece of land is difficult
But they did a great job making the course interesting by creating topography. Greens pretty good.
i love hole #9
Great course to play! I paid 9 dollars with golf now!!
The course has a number of interesting holes and provides a decent challenge. Excellent condition.
I enjoy playing Cavenaugh. If you leave the driver in the bag except on the par 5s and #15, you'll have a variety of shots into the greens that will test your skills. I'm impressed by the excellent condition of the course, the pace of play, and the commitment and pride of all the staff.
Very nice Muni
Always a fun course. It rewards playing fairways and greens and can bite you with some challenging scrambling shots if you miss. It is in pretty nice shape. I scored the first tee time so no pace of play issues :) the marshals were out early and very friendly. they were on it for the groups behind us trying to keep it moving for the day.
Great place to practice the game
Nice and friendly staff members. Easy to team up with nice friendly people. Almost got hit 6 times. Team behind me must be under chemical imbalance mode. Other than that it was a great time and place to tee.
Short but challenging.
The course is not long but there are enough trouble areas to challenge good golfers. Play up for ladies & juniors. Great for Dad and child. - Older guy at counter talks on phone and with customer friends while you wait. Younger guy was helpful and efficient. ( I had not played here for a while and he gave me a yardage book )
A fun course to play
This course is very enjoyable. Many holes are not extremely long which makes them easier to play than many other courses, especially for women or youth. Even so, the course is challenging and fun.
