About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

Great Municipal Course - Great Value
This course is in great shape for a municipal course and is fairly priced. . The greens are fast and in good shape compared to other courses I have played during the last 6 weeks while visiting Florida. The fairways have plent of grass and are well maintained. The pace of play is about average - approximately 4 1/2 hours.. We played from the white tees. The course can be somewhat challenging for the intermediate player. The starter was very pleasant and was able to send us out early. The facilities were also in good shape and when I stopped in to use the restroom, I noticed they had large cups of ice water available near the door. This was greatly appreciated and refreshing on a hot day. Overall I would rate this course 4 1/2 *’s.

River Run
Pace was slow, no ranger to keep players moving, greens were not very good, bare spots, crab grass on many.

A Fun Round of Golf
River Run is a fun course to play. The pace of play is always on the slow side at this time of the season due to heavy pressure on all the local public courses. The staff are always cordial and nice. The course layout is such that keeping the ball in play off the tee is very critical. Often, the best choice is to leave the driver in the bag and play for positional scoring opportunities. The Par 5s tend to be narrow so again position is more critical than raw distance.
The greens were very firm and ran fast. The putts also rolled true if the line avoided the many unprepared divot marks left by the throngs of golfers that don't carry a good divot tool. Again, a seasonal issue. The layout favors mostly a slight fade off the tee with a couple of holes being the exception. The tee grounds were ok.

Our tee time was 1:15. We finally got off at 1:30. Not too bad. We finished the front 9 at 4:25. Seriously, almost 3 hours to play 9 holes? We left after nine and decided to wait till season is over before returning.

River Run continues to improve
I’ve criticized this course previously for not managing or even monitoring their pace of play but my last round tee’d off slightly ahead of schedule and the pace was good throughout. The course manager continues to make improvements to the layout that will allow a little more forgiveness and improve the experience. Great value proposition. I shall return.

OVERBOOKING at 3:00-3:30 time slot
Arrived early 2:45pm for a 3:30pm start. Lady at the sign in register would not give me a receipt until 3;15pm. The starter was going to start us a little early because we were a foursome, paying for 18 holes.We we would not get 18 holes in when they started a threesome, a twosome 3:22 ahead of us playing 9 holes. Then being told to have carts back by 6:30.WE did. ENough dayligh to play two more holes. Ended up only playing 12 holes. GOLF NOW players are second class citizens at River Run Golf Links

Very good course
Played here about 3 times now very well maintained and also very busy! Just make sure for your tee time that you are there 15-20 min early especially in the morning I would recommend 30 min prior to tee time

Nice little layout
Had a really good day with nice weather and good friends
Pace is always a problem this time of year. Higher price to wait around. Nature of beast I guess but sucks some of fun out the round and can’t really get a rhythm so scores suffer.
