About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

Nice, well-maintained course with Improvements underway
This is a very nice course that is being well cared for. Some course improvement is underway, but it doesn't come in to play with the existing holes. The fairways and greens are green, despite the lack of rain over the last month.

Enjoyable Round
We enjoyed our round here and will be back soon. Greens on front nine were hard and fast. Back nine was better. Front nine was slow but back nine was faster after some people ahead of us left.

Poor conditions
Poor course conditions from tee boxes to greens. More weeds than grass on greens and very bumpy.

1st time on course
Was first time playing this course. Staff was great and enjoyed the course. Will try and play here again.

The course was very dry. The greens were small and in poor condition. Didn"t overly like the layout either.

Good Conditions, Decent Layout, Excellent Price
Played late morning weekend round. Booked as a single & paired w/ another single, playing as a twosome following two foursomes. Front took exactly 2 hours, finished round in 4.25 hrs. total. Course dry but in good shape. Greens rolled true but were not as fast as usual. Sand traps in decent shape, albeit no rakes in some. Fairways a bit thin but acceptable for this time of year. Barry (carts) & John (cashier) were both friendly & accommodating. Would recommend this course & look forward to coming back again soon.

Pace of Play
The staff is friendly and helpful. The course is in average condition. The course has yardage markers but they are at ground level so it's hard to determine the yardage unless you're on top of them. Also there are several holes with 90 degree dog legs but without visisble yardage markers it's difficult to determine what to hit off the tee. The pace of play is miserable, like most courses in the area.

Wait for Seasonal Play to Slack Off
Our 4-some waited on every shot. It was painfully boring. I left after none holes it was that slow. River Run is a fun course to play in the off season when the pace is good. I will wait till the winter season ends before returning. Can't be helped at this time of year. Staff is friendly and accommodating but 30 handicap golfers saturating a golf course is not conducive to any kind of rhythm or focus.
