A favorite!
One of our favorite places to play! All the courses are beautiful, and very well kept. We had a cart that had issues, but other than that, it was a perfect day! Anyone from out of town should definitely go there. You won't be sorry!
I would add pictures, but they aren't as good as the clubs pictures. But pictures don't do it justice.
Great round at great price
Absolute steal at $10, had no one in front of me, played first nine in an hour. Course was is in really good shape for end of season. Greens were well maintained. Definitely going back as long as weather holds out.
Good value for money
I played this course on my way down to Wintergreen Resort, and met some friends down here en route. Was a fun course to play that was not terribly long, but you had to hit the ball in the correct spots. The greens had been recently punched (maybe a week or so prior), but they were still rolling very well. We played Olde/Creek, and it was a fairly challenging round. Driver is not necessary on a number of holes, and so it really makes you think about what shot to play. Otherwise, it was a fun round even though it rained for a couple holes! Only paid $10, and so it was well worth it!
Interesting hilly course
The course has 3 different 9 hole courses. We played the Olde and Miller courses. The Olde course is hilly and compact with small raised greens. The Miller course is more hilly and spread out.
The greens and fairways are in great condition but the tees are poor. Most greens are small. Because of the hills some shots are blind.
Enjoyable course in beautifull surroundings.
Good value
Good value when booked as "hot deal" on Golfnow. Olde course has elevated greens (1to2feet above fairways) requiring decisions about putting or chipping from close to the green. I and most of my friends prefer playing the other tw nines, Miller and Creek.
Shen
Course was in great condition. Play was a little slow but over all a great day.
Great course to play
You need to play here. Course was in great condition and the greens were excellent.Staff were very helpful and welcome me to the course. The ranger even came around to offer us COLD bottle water during our round. Boy was I glad to see him! With the Golfnow Hot deal you can,t go wrong.
Best value around
I used to live in Harrisonburg and have since moved to Charlottesville. I still come back to play Shenvalee. The course quality for the price is unbeatable. Most of the times I have played, the course is in great condition. Very rarely do I feel like I am waiting on groups ahead of me or being pushed by those behind me. My one piece of advice on hotter days, anytime you see the water jugs, go ahead and fill up even if you aren't empty. The jugs are few and far between.
Great course!
Only one flaw
The only reason I did not give Shenvalee an EXCELLENT overall rating is the pace of play. We played as a twosome, and came upon a foursome on the third hole. We waited hole after hole for the slower group to let us play through, but to no avail. After the ninth hole we asked the starter to reassign our next nine due to the slow play, which he gladly accommodated. We asked the starter about golf etiquette at Shenvalee, and was told the players are suppose to know this, but to my knowledge nothing was said to the foursome. I hope the resort starts re-enforcing this message to all groups as they start their rounds, just as a friendly reminder, and to help all golfers enjoy their rounds.
Good course the price
Great course layout except the holes i bogied.
course has great history in the aere
I have always enjoyed playing shenvalee, golf course. It's a nice short course that challenges the long ball hitter.
Nice Golf Course with Great Views ...
Very nice golf course and the mountain views were amazing. Course was in great shape for this time of year and with Golf Now, we got an amazing deal on the green fees. I would recommend giving this course a try. Fairways are in great shape. Green running a lil slow, but this time of year it is expected. All and All a nice course and with the Golf Now price ... A Great Deal ... Give this course a go, views alone are worth the green fees.
Great Coure with Great Views!
Great course for average golfer with great view of Blue Ridge Mountain. The Ole Course and Creek are the best of the 3 - 9's IMO. Miller seems to have more blind shots. Only one on Ole course is number 3 that you need to stay right with a creek crossing about the average Driver range. Greens were great the last weekend of October. Course overall is very well kept. Grass tee driving range is very nice, but hilly. Moderate difficultly along with great seminary make for great golf.
The course is well-maintained.
This is a great course for golfers of any skill level. It is very wide open but still presents challenges to reach greens in regulation. The greens were in excellent condition and allowed for very predictable putts. We played on a grey overcast day and the scenery was still spectacular. It would be breath-taking on a sunny fall day. This was our first time here and the staff was extremely helpful and cordial. I look forward to playing here again.
This course has 27 holes with some tough par three's.
The Olde course par three's are along the drive and subdivision roads. The Creek course hole three par three's with two over water. The Miller course has one difficult par three over a large pond into a large green.
They seem to have trouble managing a 27 hole layout, start to many groups on one nine when other 9s open.
I have played there may times, always slow play. The Creek nine is my favorite nine.
Nice Little Course
Played the "Old" and the "Miller" 9's. The greens were in great shape; lots of nice views of the mountains. Several blind tee shots, so it helps to know your way around. Very short; no par 5's over 500 yards, but you still need to keep the ball in play.
