They Are Doing Spring Cleaning
The course was not bad, but it would have been nice to know they were aerating the front 9 before we got there. We had the option to play the back 9 twice and we did. They had recently aerated that and all the greens were covered in sand. All in all, not bad and it was just the first full round of the year for us...we know the course will be in great shape soon.
Incredibly forgettable and disappointing - not a Casper-level standard
I was excited to play here given that I live in DC and it had such good reviews. It was incredibly underwhelming after a 45 minute drive to the boonies.
Conditions: The course was swamped in several areas with lumpy greens. Tee boxes were ok and the rough provided some good challenges in certain areas.
Layout: Incredibly boring. Almost every hole is a par 4 with open fairways and limited obstructions to the green (only two par 5's and back to back on the back 9).
Staff: So meh - walked in and one sole worker was sitting at a chair and just stared at me for a solid 10 seconds until I said "i'm here for a tee time." He grudgingly got up and barked about not riding off the cart path before handing me a receipt without so much as a please or thank you before sitting back down and folding his arms. Ridiculous.
Pace of play: The course is incredibly popular and so you can expect to wait a while to tee off if you're not in a foursome.
Overall: Won't come back.
Fun but overbook everytime
I like the course but they are horrendous at over-booking. Expect to wait a while if you go at a normal time - especially if there is a potential of a frost delay. A frost delay is absolutely normal here, yet they continue to book early tee times. Had an 11:00 tee time and didn't finish until 4:45.
Good local value
Amenable staff. Nice course layout, well kept.
Could use a hot snack bar and in-play drink delivery.
Prince William golf course - completely nice
Due to Don the starter, the desk mgr and the grounds crew, there was a special welcoming feeling. The course conditions were excellent and the pace was surprisingly fast. Can't wait to go here soon and regularlly.
Keeps getting better
This course has been steadily improving over the years. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes are in excellent shape. The rough is lush and penal if you find the deep stuff. The layout is challenging but it is a good walking course if you care to do that. Very hard to get more value for your money. Just two small complaints. The paved cart paths have annoying cracks in places just deep enough to be jarring as you drive over them...pretty much all along the course. Holes 3, 4 and 5 can be a bit of a traffic jam with hazards and difficult greens sometimes slowing play. Overall, a great place for golf.
Slow and bumpy greens after aeration
I played earlier this year with great greens. Putting was much too hard this time.
Staff is very courteous.
Course has challenging holes yet forgiving
Always enjoy playing PW. Pretty forgiving course for the most part. Staff is excellent
Slow
The course was in good condition but the very slow pace of play (with a Marshall driving around) made the experience regrettable. Also for a course that only plays 6300 yards from the tips there is no reason to have a 250 yard par 3. I will not be going back.
Great value for money and a fun course to play
This course is one that I continue to go back to. The pricing is very reasonable, and the course almost always in good shape. The only issue I have run into is overbooking from time to time. I am a fairly new golfer so the skill level of the course is appropriate. The fairways are wide and the greens are well maintained. I am planning to play again 8/5/17 weather permitting.
Great Value and well maintained
First time playing and was presently surprised at the condition and layout for a public course. Greens were in great shape. I'll definitely be back
Bring your "A" putter
Really nice course. Most fairways are narrow so if you hit a hook or slice you will be finding your ball on an adjacent fairway. The thing I enjoyed most were the greens; firm and true AND tricky reads! Most fairways as well as the hole layouts were forgiving but the greens ate up the strokes you gained getting there...lol.
Great shape
Course is in great shape. Greens fast and challenging.
Good value
Paid $36 on the hot deal and was well worth it. Course is in as good a shape as I've seen it in 20 years. Greens were a tad bumpy in areas, but overall great value for the money, especially on a Sunday. Finished 18 holes in 3:45!!!!
