Great Value and well maintained
First time playing and was presently surprised at the condition and layout for a public course. Greens were in great shape. I'll definitely be back
Bring your "A" putter
Really nice course. Most fairways are narrow so if you hit a hook or slice you will be finding your ball on an adjacent fairway. The thing I enjoyed most were the greens; firm and true AND tricky reads! Most fairways as well as the hole layouts were forgiving but the greens ate up the strokes you gained getting there...lol.
Great shape
Course is in great shape. Greens fast and challenging.
Good value
Paid $36 on the hot deal and was well worth it. Course is in as good a shape as I've seen it in 20 years. Greens were a tad bumpy in areas, but overall great value for the money, especially on a Sunday. Finished 18 holes in 3:45!!!!
Nice Course
I thought the Course was in pretty good condition considering this is February.
As this was an unusually warm day, there were a lot of golfers out. Play was very slow and st times we had to wait nearly 10 minutes to tee off.
There was no drinking water to be found anywhere on the course. I couldn't understand why except that the charge $2.75 for a small water st the clubhouse and $3.75 for a small Gatorade.
Even the ball washers on the carts had no water in them. I suspect this is just from laziness on the part of the staff.
Anyway, overall, good but not great Course. I'm sure I will play it again.
open course
really like this course staff very helpful looking forward to my next round
Great Greens
I was greeted by a highly motivated young man in the clubhouse that proceeded to provide top rate service. Well maintained course. The greens rolled fast and true greens. The fairways and bunkers are in nice shape. Some of the green side rough could use some work.
I've got the price
Short course from the tips! 6300 but in good shape! Greens are the defense of this course. The greens are in great shape!
Great Course, bad pace of play
The greens and fairways are in great shape. Teeboxes could use some work but not bad. Staff is always fantastic. Great value for money and replay rate is only $15 which is awesome.
Pace of play was horrible. I find most courses have pace of play rules but very few enforce them.
Great greens
A number of the courses in the area have "lost" their greens this summer due to the heat. Prince William managed to keep their greens firm and fast and in great shape.
The course isn't very long or tight so its real defense is the undulation and speed of the greens. The nice thing is they roll true so you still have a good chance to score...just don't short-side yourself.
I didn't get into the bunkers but they looked ok. The fairways were in good shape. A few of the tee boxes were a bit beat up.
Overall I will definitely be going back.
Remarkable Turnaround
It has been many years since I played at this course. Back then, it was a dog track. On a whim, I decided to give PWGC another try. I was most pleasantly surprised at the conditions and shape of the course. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course itself was in excellent shape from tee to green. Billy Casper Golf has made an outstanding effort to bring this course back from the dregs. Every aspect of my round was positive. I will be back. Keep up the great work, guys and gals!
Green reading a must!!
As with most muni's, traps need upgrading!!
This rather short course, 6300 from the tips, is slightly hinky but provides adequate challenge to for most players and offers opportunity to shoot low scores.
Today, as with most days here, the greens were hard as concrete and slick as greased ice. Even under different conditions, the greens here require speed control, break management and above all, patience.
A course worth the reasonable rates they are asking.
Recommended!!
Nice wide open course
I got a great deal to play there with my son during the week. The course was in good condition. The greens rolled true. The fairways were probably the most generous I've played in Virginia, which was good for my son. The staff was friendly too. We'll definitely be back.
Four!
The staff was very friendly and the course is a bit challenging but no too challenging for a novice golfer - the fairways were a bit tight (don't think I have heard "four" so many times before) but the fairways and greens were in great condition. We will definately place this one again.
Course is in much better shape than previous play
The fairway and tee boxes are much better manicured and the greens were in great shape for play
Good course for a reasonable price
Overall I like this course. The maintenance condition of the fairway, green, bunker and so on is not excellent but acceptable. Considering the green fee, I was very satisfied with this course. And I would like to play this course again in the near future.
Great Round!
Course was in fantastic shape, pin placements were very tough but fair. Always have a great round when I am here.
Greens "tricked up"
Everything about this course was enjoyable except the outrageous pin placements based on the green speeds. Balls would not hold greens, and in some cases rolled off greens by just touching a putter to back of the ball. Almost every cup was placed on a steep incline that made every situation ridiculous. Since we played the day after the US Open ended at Oakmont ended, our first thought was the greens keeper wanted to out Oakmont, Oakmont. One of PWCGC's members who knows the greens, had multiple putts roll off the greens that should have stopped within a few feet. My low handicap friend from England called the greens "a joke" and the current speeds don't match the design.
Bottom line: we won't go back and have been telling friends to not waste their time. More enjoyable choices in this same area
