Great time and value
Its a fun course as I love the setup and the pace of play each time I play is very impressive.
Solid Course
I’ve played just about every course in NOVA over the past 4 years and this is my 3rd time at PW. Driving range was fine, small bucket comes with like 15 balls. The carts are severely outdated, but the course is in pretty good condition! Tee boxes have plenty of grass, fairways are great and the rough is not too penalizing. Greens got some divot marks people don’t repair so I won’t put too much on maintenance for that. Short par 4’s and a long par 3 in the back make for a good contrast. Worth the $70 I paid, any more and I’d second guess myself. Pace of play was pretty bad but I’ll put that on the group in front being terrible golfers, Marshall was out talking to them on multiple occasions. Enjoyed the outing, I wouldn’t pay more than $70-80 for a Sunday outing for it.
Fast Greens
I’ve been waiting for the super fast greens of the past. Their fast greens used to be the only course defense. They’re back. YES! Course was in very good shape, and I especially like the refurbished bunkers - NICE! Pace was slow due to a tournament that was over crowded. The Marshal kept making the rounds to apologize. Wish there were golfball cleaners on course. I kept having to use my drinking water.
Course played difficult
The pin placement on the greens were difficult on some holes, but remained a fun and challenging course to play. Pace of play acceptable and staffs were nice and attentive to the tee times and golfers on deck for start. One concern, I did not see and water station along the course.
Buy new carts!
The carts at this GC are horrendous. They are not reliable, very loud, and make strange screeching noises when the gas is accelerated. My 1st cart broke down on hole #1. Because of the breakdown we were a few minutes behind and were scolded about pace of play on hole #2.
Towards the end of the first nine there was a huge backup. On the back nine we had to wait on every hole. It took us almost 5 hours to play.
I will not be rushing back to this course.
Well Marshalled
It was a pretty good course with well marshalled. When slow play group exist, marshall came over to hasten them.
Worth the price
I play this course about once every 7-10 days. It’s not overly long or difficult. Normally it’s in good shape. This time I found bunkers not raked (and only 1 rake per bunker), and a lot of ball marks not repaired on greens. This is not the fault of the course (with the exception of only 1 rake for each bunker). The starter emphasized “please rake the bunkers and repair ball marks on the greens”. I must have fixed 5 ball marks on every green while I waited to putt. No one in my group (I’m a single) fixed even their own ball marks. Very disappointing, since I was vocal about it on every green. The greens were slow compared to previous rounds (maybe due to the weather this year). In past years, the greens have been lightening fast and the only real course protection. BUT, the price is very good compared to most courses in the area, which charge outrageous amounts even on weekdays. Staff was friendly, and I still had a very good time.
