Good Course: Challenging Greens
Good course layout. Greens are in great shape but extremely challenging and tough pin placements. Fairways were ok but thin on turf and if you hit a ball near the edges it almost always bounced into the pine straw. Would try it again if the price was right.
Fast greens, water in 16 holes! Would have liked to play it again.
Crown park
I've always enjoyed playing Crown Park whenever I'm in the area. This last time seemed like they overbooked. The course was crowded and slow.5 hour round.
Pace of play way too long for a small course like crown park
We showed up at the pro shop and we are told we do not have a tee time then they tell us yes we found your tee time but it was only for 1 person and then he said oh I found it for the 2 of us we almost left when he told us they could not find our tee times. Then we find out that about 8 other people had the same tee time as we had and so we had to be squeezed on 10 and playing the back 9 first. They are not very organized at that course.
Mixed
I’ll simply say the #1 thing I can’t stand on a golf course is slow play! 5 hours to play this course was torture. This is the only reason for the 3 rating.
I enjoyed the challenge of the course and the back nine is pretty, and the price is terrific in today’s world.
So, going to give this another shot and hope this slow play was an aberration!
Slow Play
The reason for slow play is they tripled the tee times. Apparently there were several people with the same tee time as mine.
Great time
Course in great shape fairways playable greens are fast had some interesting pin placements. Will be back next week take another shot at this beauty.
Really nice course!
It was a cool start the morning we played, but the course was in really nice shape. Very green and good grass in the fairways which we didn't see at other courses, but Crown Park looks well taken care of. It was wet that morning but the greens had been rolled. Course is interesting with several holes near water- and the greens were very challenging to read. Kind of unpredictable. Always enjoy playing at Crown Park. Very glad to have had an early morning tee time. In the afternoon as we were leaving, the foursomes were lined up all waiting to tee off- with 4 foursomes waiting and 3 foursomes on the first hole. Our round in the early morning was just around 4 hours which was perfect. We never had anyone in front of us that we had to wait for which was great. We always enjoy this course, but were were surprised it's gone up a bit in price. No more hot deal times easily available! But then again, many of the courses have also increased. It's also a little tougher to get a tee time than it used to be.
A fine round
Played on a rainy day, but that was fine. Pace was good in the afternoon. Having played here before, we were pleased that there were no delays like we had previously experienced with pace of play. The lack of grass in the fairways was a surprise, though- and we hope that this will be taken care of. Glad we caught this as a hot deal price or we would've been a little disappointed in the shape of the course this spring. We've seen the course in much better condition in the past. It is typically one of our favorites to play each time we visit Myrtle Beach. Some interesting holes- and nice to have no houses close to the course. Altogether an enjoyable, if muddy, round.
