The Grand Bear Golf Course
About
Unlike some Jack Nicklaus golf courses that have earned a reputation for being among the world's most difficult, mid- and high-handicappers stand a fighting chance at the Grand Bear Golf Course. Nicklaus offers wide fairways before the sprawling woods take over on either side, most bunkers aren't horribly steep, and greens generally have room in front to run a shot up. The winding Biloxi River helps build Grand Bear to a dramatic finish. The par-3 14th hole plays through a chute of woods to a green guarded by the river below that runs along diagonally, punishing hooked shots left short. After another par 3 on the 16th that plays with the river to the left, the 17th once again plays over the river on the drive, then parallel to the hole. The 18th hole plays long and uphill back toward the clubhouse.

Fun course with just the right amount of challenge
Overall it was fun and the people were friendly. It had rained a little the day before so the marshell said it was cart path only, which ment a lot of walking. We did not encounter any wet holes and were told that we would be notified, if course was going back to 90. The course care folks were moving and riding all over the course, but we were never notified or approached on being able to get off cart path. Unfortunate, because not having to walk all over would have made it much more enjoyable. For the overall value, course condition, friendliness and cost, we put it at #3. Number 1 choice in this area for all of the above "Windance"
great course &value
the course was in great shape other than the sand traps have almost no sand in the base areas. they were raked but just lack the 1.5 inches that is standard on tour caliber courses. beyond that the course was perfect. the course is great for any grade golfer with several sets of tees to make it playable. its a little secluded but well worth the drive.
Good Condition and Maintenance
Great course and playability. Fairways are wide enough for higher handicaps to spray the ball a bit. Par 3's are excellent!
Great value
Amazing course and the price made it even better!!
this course is amazing
well kept course from the club house, pro shop out to the course. great layout very pristine. saw deer right off the bat set the scene for the day. plenty of water to drink and shelter on course. bathrooms midway between each nine holes
Very friendly staff
The staff was great!
The course was very wet so not a lot of roll on the drives. But other than that, extremely enjoyable.
Bumpy
Beautiful course, secluded, located 6 miles off the main highway. Challenging with lots of hidden trouble. The weather perfect as was the fair ways, however, the greens have just been aerated which made them quite bumpy. Would love to go again when the greens are right.
Beautiful Course
My son and I had a great time playing golf at Grand Bear. It was hot, but the course was in great shape, and the staff is superb!
Great course
Though the weather was hot, it was well worth the trip. The staff was courteous and helpful, the course layout was typical Jack Nicklas design witH many force carries, plenty of water and traps, and generous fairways.
Must Play
A definite must play if you are in the area. The courses as well as the staff were amazing. Started as a 1 and paired up with 3 guys and enjoyed the round. The layout was “right in front of you” but with challenging holes. Bring your A game
Wet but good
First time playing course
It had been raining for past 4 days
That being said it was wet but fun course challenging but not to challenging watch out for the sand bunkers. Greens do need some more work on them deviates the rainy days fairways are good. I'm going to go play again before I leave when it drys up
Tough but fair. Play the correct tees or the course could be real tough.
Always fun to play. The greens had been punched and sanded but still enjoyed the experience. Appropriately, the green fees were reduced significantly to account for the greens. One of the best layouts in the Gulf South region. Almost always in really good condition.
Nice course
Course had just reopened after aeration. Other than that a very nice place to play
