Gripping it and ripping it may be in vogue, but course architect team Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt are not going to let that be the extend of your strategy at Siena Golf Club.

This Las Vegas course is about shot-making more than bombing away. Siena's 97 pot bunkers are arranged to force frequent strategic decisions. Sometimes discretion is the better part of scorecard valor at Siena.

Hooking the ball every which way is paid for dearly at Siena. It's best to go with the clubs you can hit reasonably straight and give up a little distance.

Views of the surrounding mountains are complemented by six different water bodies, including Lake Siena. You'll be strategizing in some striking scenery.

"I don't think you'll come away impressed with this course," marketing director Mick Toscano said. "I think you'll come away awestruck."

Could Be A Really Nice Course

While the staff and the clubhouse was very nice, the course conditions.. The sand traps had no sand in them, they were full rocks and dirt. One trap I can best describe as concrete covered with a little dirt the damaged the bottom of my club. The run offs around the greens into the traps were unfair and to penalizing. There are to many other courses around the area that are in much better condition.

Another great course in Summerlin

Great course in Summerlin, just 20 minutes West of the Las Vegas strip. Greens were in very good condition and fast but true. Fairways were a little thin in areas and gave a pretty tight lie but overall very good. Plenty of room off the tee. They removed a lot of the original sand bunkers which makes the course much easier. Good friendly staff with very nice cart service and snack bar.
