Gripping it and ripping it may be in vogue, but course architect team Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt are not going to let that be the extend of your strategy at Siena Golf Club.

This Las Vegas course is about shot-making more than bombing away. Siena's 97 pot bunkers are arranged to force frequent strategic decisions. Sometimes discretion is the better part of scorecard valor at Siena.

Hooking the ball every which way is paid for dearly at Siena. It's best to go with the clubs you can hit reasonably straight and give up a little distance.

Views of the surrounding mountains are complemented by six different water bodies, including Lake Siena. You'll be strategizing in some striking scenery.

"I don't think you'll come away impressed with this course," marketing director Mick Toscano said. "I think you'll come away awestruck."

Great round, again.

Great place to play a round. Your cart is waiting for you a bag drop, the pro shop employees are knowledgeable and helpful. Beverage cart came around 3 times!! Fantastic!! The fairways are roomy but watch the bunkers. Pace was great. No rush. I play here at least once a month. Great place.

Enjoyable round of golf!

Course is part of the upscale, gated Siena community in Summerlin. This course has a lot of character, unique hole designs, spread out through the community, good conditions, and very sloped greens (work to get your 2 putt). There are plenty of hazards (water, desert, bunkers, arroyos), but this course is very playable -- making it a relaxing and enjoyable round. The fairways are decently wide, with a good amount of rough, and then plenty of desert buffer between cart path and homes. This course has more desert involved in the course than other home community courses I've played. Also nice views of mountains and strip. Perfect course for visitors and locals alike.

Overall good experience

Overall a fun, fairly well maintained, modestly challenging play. The rough was a bit long but I think that's because of the overseeding they did last month. Water and forced carries come into play on a few holes. Only knocks I would have are on a couple holes, houses are a little too close to play for my liking, and the track is not worth the non-resident rate. If you can get a resident or discounted rate, I'd say play here. If you have to pay the non-resident rate, then I would avoid.

Overbooked?

I have played this course multiple times and have generally enjoyed my experience. Unfortunately, today’s experience was the worst one yet. Pace of play was absolutely unacceptable. We had to wait on every single hole and decided to call it quits after the front 9 took us 2.5 - 2.75 hours.

Muddy

This course is always muddy. In the middle of the summer it's muddy. Poor water management. Also, very little sand in traps. In the desert no less.
