Hernando Oaks Golf & Country Club

As usual Hernando Oaks did not disappoint, fairways, greens and tee boxes all in great shape. The only downside was the sand traps, no sand and filled with water and the carts are getting a little ragged. Over all, best public course in the area!

The day we played it rained heavy for about 15 to 20 minutes. We stopped had a beer until the rain stopped and the course dried off so fast.

This course is in my humble opinion the absolute best in every way. Like so many courses in Fl there are always parts of a course that suffer more than others & that's mostly due to rainfall. Now, it's the rainy season & aside from every other course I've played so far, This is the best, only 1 complaint & it's minor because you can use a tee, the tee boxes are a little space of grass just like every other course but that's the ONLY complaint. Fairways, greens, rough, traps, everything is top notch. Carts are a wee bit old but they're gas & haven't had a bad cart yet..👍👍

Hernando Oaks continues to be in the best shape of any local course in the area open to the public. Greens are best I have seen since the course has been in existence. Bunkers need a lot of work and some tee boxes, but overall, a great course and great value.

Course is in good shape except bunkers

Pace of play is usually good but not this time slow we had a foursome of guys that thought they were good playing very slow. I called the phone number for the course and got the snack bar she said she would tell the clubhouse but no one came out to speed them up after that I sent several emails to try and get someone to speed them up

So it was a 4 almost 5 hour round when last time we played here our round was in 3.5 hours

Greens were nice

As a single golfer, I was surprised that when I checked in at the Pro Shop that I was required to pay an additional $20 for the cart. This is on top of what I had already paid thru GolfNow. My options were to either pay the additional fee, or leave and loose the prepaid money I had paid when booking thru GolfNow. So, if you are a single, be aware that you will need to pair up on a single cart with a stranger, or pay the extra $$. This is the only course in Central FL that does this. Lots of other choices in our area.

Disappointing since the course is in very good shape.

The new owners have really invested in this course. Best greens in 3 counties under $100/rnd. They don't skimp there. Fairways play true with lists of room and roll. Greens check up nice and putt true. Tee boxes are a little rough on a few holes but oh well. The only knock are the muddy bunkers. They don't drain well. Plenty of sand just packed down from the rains so open that club face and swing hard. Long carry part 3's and bombing par 5's. Great intermediate part 4's with spice that require golf shots to score. Clubhouse is underwhelming but the food and drinks are priced right and don't miss. Carts are old but they're being upgraded soon. For $50 weekend rounds and less after peak it's a no brainer. I'm a 9 handicap and play from the blues

Great balance of challenge, nature, conditions, and price.

There was not a bad green or fairway on the course. Tee boxes were a little bare, but will grow back. The carts are older, but they didn’t stop us from playing. Definitely the best course in Hernando county right now.

It was hot weather, warm friendships with the course and players. Just an all round good day.

It was hot with a slight breeze. The course was in great shape, except for some of the bunkers needed attention. Fairway grass good and the greens were excellent. Just a great day and will be going back soon.

It has been almost 2 months since my last play here, hadn't rained in like forever but the course was very playable then. Since then we (Cent. West Fl.) went from dry season to the rainy season, the course has greened up even more, t boxes were grassier, greens even more plush, all in all, awesome. This is in my opinion is the best course design & layout along with Twisted Oaks in Beverly Hills, Fl... I haven't been to Twisted Oaks in almost a yr now since they built a new housing development adjacent the course but these are my 2 pics in the area.

Love the layout.Its been about 3 years since it played here.Will be coming back as much as I can.Years ago the rough was unplayable on some of the holes.They have cleaned it up nicely.Fairways and Greens in great condition..Only area that's needs work in my opinion are some of the bunkers.Overall we enjoyed the round very much.Nice staff and good food.
