Hernando Oaks
Been a while since I have played here. Course was in good shape. Greens were a bit slow. Was nice to play some of my favorite holes today. Looking forward to going back!
One of my favorite courses
This has become one of my favorite courses in the Tampa Bay area. Course was in great condition.
Great course and the two Cart cleaners are Great and Deserve a raise.
best it's ever been !!!
Played here many times!!
All conditions are best they have ever been!!
Excellent!!
Great layout
Great layout with some really challenging par 3s from the blue tees. Green we fe e still recovering from being aerated, but putted fairly well. A great value for the money
Beautiful layout
I loved this course. Challenging without using gimmicks. Great mix of hazards. Course in great shape. The greens had been aerated about a week prior to my round, so tough putting conditions (but a necessary evil, only reason course condition wasn't given an excellent rating). Pro shop and cafe were spartan, but I play golf for the golf and don't need frills.
Course is in nice shape.
Pace of play was best I’ve yet encountered here, 2.5 hours. Playing as a single, I had two courteous threesomes ahead wave me through, after which I didn’t have anyone in front or behind after the 3rd hole. Conditions are good except that recent heavy rains have filled the bunkers, and some cart paths have standing water. However, the rain has been a much needed relief for the turf throughout the course. While the course does have several holes adjacent to housing, the back nine is much more a standalone track that’s scenic, has some memorable and very enjoyable holes. Carts are equipped with USB charging ports which is a nice touch.
Great course
The course was in great shape, unfortunately the greens were aireated and sanded, but it was still fun to play.
Huge improvement
Today was my first time playing Hernando Oaks in months and I’ll say I certainly was impressed. The ground was very dry and hard which could prove problematic at most courses but I had no problem with shots from the fairways plus the hard ground allowed my ball to roll an extra 30 yards off the tee. The greens were in great shape. Not too fast or too slow. This course has an under rated layout that both challenges the golfer to hit good shots, yet provides a considerable amount of relief with the occasional miss. The manicuring of the course was great. Fairway boundaries were prominent and framing of the bunkers was a very nice touch. One thing I enjoyed greatly was the fairway “bunker” in 17, hugging the left side of the dogleg the fairway seems to fall off into a bunker with an exceptionally natural look. I was thoroughly impressed and look forward to my next round here.
Hernando Oaks still good
The course was in great shape and greens rolling true and fast
Enjoyable course but slow play is a problem
Hernando Oaks is a very enjoyable course, especially the back nine which isn’t constrained by housing, and has some really beautiful holes. It’s in good condition; greens were fast and mostly in good shape given that it’s been dry lately. Fairways are getting a bit dry, and a stinger will roll forever as the turf is very hard. But there’s adequate grass to usually have a good lie. Traps need some sand replenishment as several are down to dirt in some areas.
The problem I’ve encountered here repeatedly is groups of players who are not only excruciatingly slow, but who also seem utterly oblivious to singles/doubles behind them and don’t know or care that they’re holding up other players - even when you’re behind them at a tee box. You’re left abandoning a hole to go around them, or waiting 15 minutes between strokes. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a ranger on the course, and one is needed to keep play moving at a reasonable pace.
