About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. OK for the money
they cut the fairways too short and you could loose your ball in the dead grass.
Improving course conditions
Great Layout.
Fairways are improving with more grass
and fewer bad lies.
Fun course and clubhouse has the best wings!
Slow,slow
Course conditions were nice and much improved, however, pace of play due to foursomes hitting multiple balls was terrible. Wish we could have completed all 18 but finally gave up when we as a twosome we’re not given the courtesy to play through.
I thought the course was in very good condition comparatively speaking, and it was definitely a nice challenge I would recommend this course to others and I will be playing it again
Are used to play this course 20 years ago and it was supreme then it turned into something not so nice but it’s definitely on its way back. They’re doing something right around here.
Conditions and Staff
The staff in the Pro Shop are rarely willing to help if your booking online. Got rained out on 18, with still 9 to play, the fella at this Pro Shop said I can’t help you since you booked online. Suggested I call GolfPass customer service instead of giving me a voucher to finish my round at another time. I am here 3 times a week at the range and the course playing. Thumbs down on customer service and course conditions, do better!
Good Track!
Some fairways were a little rough, but the greens were very good!
Great Value
The course has seen vast improvement in the greens and fairways.
Greens were extremely slow for quite a while but; that has been addressed and they are much faster and rolling well.
Has become one of our "go to" places to play because of the course layout and low rates.
Head Scratcher
It’s summer and the course sits fairly empty most afternoons. So what do they do? Raise the prices. Significant progress was made to restore fairways but now they are letting them slide again. They are getting thin and burning up in the summer heat. Rough is getting tall and balls are easily lost even a foot off the fairway. It’s a head scratcher, raise prices but drive away golfers. My group plays elsewhere when prices go over $30 in the summer. I Wish them luck as the course layout is good, but the lack of play due to high pricing drives away income as it sits unplayed. Income potential is squandered and the course condition suffers because of it.

Greens are very good. Bunkers could use some grooming but are ok if raked .

They have sped up the greens which were too
slow in last couple of visits.

A local Gem
Those of us golfers living in & around hernando county choose one course to play a round at & it’s always Silverthorn. I enjoy this course terribly. I never shoot a great round but I’ve had unbelievable shots. Play one shot at a time. Will be back shortly. Grounds crew & cart shack guys go above & beyond. I do self checkin & still stop inside to see who’s working. Another great team. Always another great day
