About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

greed and inflation landed here
course overseeded with rye grass to make it look green however fairways are still sparse and extremely bumpy and rough. Winter rate for a course in this shape should be NO higher than $30. current rates are way over inflated and therefore drive golf value down.
All around course
This course is on the come up. I play in a Sunday morning league and the course gets better every week. Great value for the money and I definitely recommend to anyone looking to play in the area. Not breathtaking but it’s a very solid course. Bunkers need work but doesn’t make a difference to me because I suck out of the bunker either way.

All fluff not worth $50+ green fees
New managements idea of improving the course is to throw down rye grass and watch it grow. From a distance it may appear nice but fairways are still patchy and rough. Course should be priced in the low $30s for the higher winter rates but $50s is way over reaching for its condition. If you’re going to spend $50 for green fees there are several courses in the area you should play at in much better condition.

Good Value
Greens were perfect. Fairways could use an overseed. Some slow players ahead but an enjoyable round. Will play again.
Used to be - not any more - went from 27 to 47 at 1.

The Kid
New owner seems to be making strides, however for a course with a lot of sand the sand was not great. The driving range is in dire need of new range balls, the oak trees on the perimeter are in need of trimming and Spanish moss removal (happy trees happy course) these trees are very close in to fairways so if you have an errant shot good luck getting any recovery shot back swing.

Fairways
Overall the courses improving. However, if you have a bad back, be careful driving the fairways. There are many large holes and bumps which hurt your lower back.

Worth playing again!
I had all but given up on silverthorne last year, it’s so nice to see the work being put in to improve the quality of the course. It has a ways to go to get back to the once beautiful track, but it’s definitely worth supporting their efforts now!
