About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. Great layout but poor conditions
This course has a really great layout. Some elevation changes on the par 3s, tight fairways, some holes require a hybrid or wood instead of driver. Overall was fun. The front 9 greens were bumpy and slow with some dead patches. Back 9 greens were much better. Rough off fairways is pretty much nonexistent. Little grass with sand. Fairways are ok, some are better than others. Some tee boxes were bad and sandy or weren't mowed. Range balls are old. This course could be great if they took care of it better. A lot of areas where it looks like it used to be a lake were dried up overall had fun though. I'll be back for $30

DO NOT PLAY THERE NO MATTER HOW CHEAP IT IS
So disapointed, golf course is situated in a beautiful community, I was really hoping it was a nice course, but boy was I ever wrong, nothing pleasant about this course. Little or no grass on the fairways, roughs were even worse, greens ok but so slow. Half the tee-offs were awful.There is graas growing in the sand traps, too bad it's not on the fairway instead.Easy to see the people who run this course do not put any money to improve it.

Silverthorne
Greens were ok but fairways and tees were very poor. The tees , cart paths, and fairways need to be completely repaired.

Domt expect more then you pay for!
Course was worn down on most fairways and tee boxes, Bunkers didn't have a depth of sand, plan to hit bottom of bunker and not have thick sand most of the time.Greens were decent. Layout is as good and better than many. For what you pay, its a good experience. Go there and enjoy yourself If it rains, maybe more grass will grow on the fairways.

Layout nice,but
Greens were nice. Sand traps had grass, fairways did not.Once one of the better courses in Spring Hill it has deteriorated significantly!

Course improvements needed
Played here many times I last 10 years. It is fairly obvious that new owners are not putting back into the course. Fairways are none existing ( all holes and bare areas ). Greens are ok but just ok. (Haven’t been mowed) Tee boxes are all sand and weeds . This was premier course few years ago but has gone downhill . Would not recommend at this time until improvements are done.

They are trying!
The greens were in great shape and the tee boxes are coming back. But much of the fairways are in pretty rough shape. But it is a great layout and a very challenging 18th hole!!

terrible conditions !!!!!
terrible tee beds, poor fairway conditions (no grass to hit off of), bunkers hard packed, most of the greens were in good condition so not to much to complain about there.

Fairways and Tee Boxes Bad
Greens are great - rest is pitiful - no rangers and slow pace of play. Fairways need aeration and overseeding. Cheapest game in town for a reason.

Great greens and that's it
The greens were in great shape....all else was awful! Sometimes had to move the ball 10 yards to find grass in the fairway. Tee areas were a mess. Sand traps were average. Paid $32.00 on golf now but still not worth it. Will never be back!

Maybe it’s winter!
Nice little course. Fairways weren’t very grassy but, maybe it is winter dormant. The starter delivered carts to parking lot. Probably not his job, just being courteous. Greens were crazy fast. Balls rolled down hill if you don’t go in hole.. not the most creative course but I would play it again. Got backed up on second half with a wait on every hole. Could have just been slow group somewhere ahead
