About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

Great design, maintenance nearly non-existent. Tee boxes mostly bare as well as many spots is the fairways. Greens were recently punched, normal this time of year, but they didn't top dress. Just left the holes. Strange. Don't pay over $20.

Playing in the rain
Couldn’t ask for better when the course is empty due to a light rain. Nothing like having the course to your self. Stay out of the bunkers though. Totally enjoyed, hope to do it again.

Course conditions
I've been playing this course for twenty years and it seems as if they've thrown in the towel. The greens are like concrete and old ball marks have become craters. The area around the greens is in disrepair with the bunkers leading the complaints. There is not much grass around the greens to chip off of and I find myself putting from 5-10 yards around the greens. There are a few holes on the back that have little to no grass in the fairway. I love the course but can't stand the way they care for it.

Nice layout, needs better care
I really like the layout of this course, but very disappointed that it isn't better maintained. Also, many of the golfers are mostly unaware of proper etiquette, and it was a bit surprising to experience this, so adjust your expectations accordingly

Horrible conditions
Not only horrible conditions but a foursome spending what seems liked 20 min a hole… No ranger … greens tooo slow…. Won’t be back

Maintenance Needed
Silverthorn is a local course I play about once a month and use the range and practice green a couple of times a month. Unfortunately, this course continues to struggle with poor maintenance upkeep. There is little to no mowing of the rough or tee boxes. It appears they just try to mow the greens every few days and move the hole locations. The practice green condition is better than any hole on the course. The majority of the bunkers on the course are unplayable with some completely overgrown with grass and weeds.
I enjoy the course layout but I feel like there is no attention given to actually making it into a nice course that is affordable for the average player. The area only has a few local courses that are affordable and this one gets lots of play so I don’t understand why it isn’t maintained.

was a good place to play
tee beds horrible, bunkers horrible, fairways somewhat defined, in poor condition, don't think I'll ever play this course again.

Cart hut guys
I hurt my back in tee box at hole #5. Was able to get back to my cart in pain. Made it back to golf hut & one of the guys working cleaning carts was able to ride me back to my car since walking was almost impossible. Thank you to him for the needed help.
