Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

course was in shambles.
Dirt in the fairways. Lots of places missing grass. Greens weren't bad but otherwise this course needs some serious attention.
Good variety in types of holes.
1st 9 is rather flat, 2nd has more holes with elevations. Many greens are quite undulating making putting challenging. Pace was good for the weekend. Staff curtious and professional.
Fun course. Well kept.
Fun course xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Awesome experience
Friendly staff, especially the kid at the counter, she was helpful and answered all questions with courtesy and professionalism. The Management staff seemed to be in the back room while she was handling all the golfers checking in on Sat morning and she still managed to help me with merchandise that i needed to buy.
This course has a number of fun hazards/features: ponds, lake and lots of tree toruble if you're not hitting it straight.
it my hometown course I play. It is a fun short course. I always recommend this course to friends
Slow Play
I have played this course 5 times. Every time I have played, it has taken at least 5 hours to get through the round. If you are looking to get a quick round in, DO NOT play here. Yes, I played during the week.
overbooked
took us 90 minutes to play first two holes. when we got to the third hole there were four groups ahead of us waiting to tee off. quit after three holes. week before it took us 5 hours and 30 minutes to finish.
Best value in HB
My son an I love Meadowlark. I'ts challenging but plenty of birdie holes. Great value and close to home
Fun course, Poor Staff
This course is short but kept fun due to the coastal breeze and varied tee position. However they literally have zero spacing between tee offs. So every par 3 is three groups backed up. Over 5 hours to play this short course equates to a lot of sitting waiting to tee off.
Get off to an easy start... but,
After an easy start it get more challenging and interesting. Must use some course management and becomes easier after a few plays.
Teed off 1/2 hour after tee time. Waited on every hole. 6 hour round.
This is a short & easy course in great shape. Way too many bad golfers slowed play. Waited 10 minutes on every shot.
nice change of pace
Hot deal and good company made this outing an enjoyable experience. Staff was helpful and the first 6 holes played at a good pace for a mid day start on a Friday. Hole 7 had 3 groups ahead of us forcing 30 minute break that does wonders for your swing timing, not! The remaining holes played at a fair pace. Course is in summer condition; fairways thinning in places. The greens looked nice and rolled true with a few pm bumps here and there. Recommend you avoid the sand traps if possible due to hard pack just below a thin layer of sand confounding good shot making.
This course is short but is near from ocean.
The weather was cool and the air was fresh.
I think the location is good but the management should be paid more attention. need kind, course repair and marshall attendent.
This course is a moderately challenging course.
I have played Meadowlark on numerous occasions and every time I get to thinking that the pace of play is getting better, I am disappointed the next round I play there. Yesterday was just that sort of day--had a tee-time for four at 11:41, did not tee off until 12:00 and they sent a 5th player to play in our group. Every hole was backed up with players waiting, which is not so bad until you get to hole #7 and you spend 20 to 25 minutes just to get your turn to hit. Bottom line, the first 9 holes took 3 hours to play. Overall, it was a 5 and a half hours of frustrating delay. On the positive side however, the course is maintain very nicely for the amount of play it gets, the weather is almost always comfortable, and for me it is conveniently located. I would recommend Meadowlark to my friends (and I have done so many times), but now only if I had the assurance that it wasn't overbooked. I wonder, being that I didn't see a Marshal on the course, would that perhaps speed things up if there were slow players ahead of you?
booking my tee time
I teed off at the exact time I was booked for and played with 2 other golfers, we had a 3-sum. I would have booked for 2 golfers with golfnow had a 2nd time been offered. There was not a cancellation that I was aware of.
Overbooked on holiday weekend led to many problems
Had to quit after 6 holes that took 2 1/2 hours to play. Not enough golf carts, no Marshall, sent out groups of 5, started 30 min. After scheduled tee time, very slow play led to angry players hitting into us.
Fun course
Course in good shape. Unfortunately, no ranger and 3 beginners being taught by a hacker in front of us.
pace of play very slow
worst time ive had yet at this course. backed up and waiting on holes for up to 20 minutes. got threw 7 holes and left discusted. will never go back
Not bad for OC courses
I live in the I.E. and temps were 108, so off to the O. C. to get away from the heat. This course was short, but in good shape. We did have to wait on nearly every shot thought. It took a little over 5 hours to play 18 holes. Not wanting to get back to the heat I really didn't mind too much. The guy in the pro shop could have been more friendly, didn't seem to want to be there. Anyway, it was $39.00 for a 11:28 time. Not a bad price for and the weather was fantastic.
Course was in good shape
We scheduled a late afternoon tee time and were finally at the box 40 minutes after our tee time. Very slow going. The starter lines up 3 groups at a time and some of these golfers wait until the group in front gets off the green on a par 4! The course was very backed up and by the time we hit the 7th hole (par 3) There was 3 foursomes lined up. We doubled back and played 1-5 again without much delay. This is a fun little course I've played for years, but now I remember why I don't go there often. Too busy.
