About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

Great Course!
This is a great course for beginners to intermediate golfers. There were some “tour pros” behind us who kept hitting into us on almost every hole which wasn’t ideal. I’m sure they drove a lifted truck. Also the Ambassador on the course was following us for a few holes even though there were people ahead of us which was annoying. Other than that the course was in good condition and wasn’t too expensive for a short par 4 course. We had a blast. Shot an 84

Course conditions have deteriorated
I haven’t played here in nearly a year but conditions were pretty bad. Lost a ball in the middle of a fairway as they had a swamp crossing the 11th fairway. Tee boxes moved, areas roped off all over the place. Also they insist on having grounds grew out mowing and feritilizing in the middle of the busiest times, slowing down pace of play. Took some fertilizer pellets to the face driving cart too close to the truck. They need to get their drainage better managed
We apologize for your experience not meeting your expectations on your recent round. Unfortuantely the 40+ inches of rain we've received over the last 1 1/2 years has really taken it's toll on our 100 year old golf course. We hope you'll give us another shot as we head into the summer months and things start to dry out for us as the ground water levels start to drop.

Almost a 3 hour front nine due to the men`s club tournament. Back nine almost as bad.
Funny was that a bunch of the men`s club members were complaining to each other about slow play. Go figure. It`s the not me syndrome.
We have made a concerted effort to have our marshal at the course for longer hours on the weekend and still this can happen at times. We truly apologize for the slow pace and hope you give us another shot to show you a better experience!

Slow (fun) afternoon
Course is not a long one where you pull out a driver on every hole, but it is interesting and can be made challenging based on conditions: tee/pin placement, use of water and elevation . It’s a great little course and the greens can get challenging. 11th and 12th holes have seen better days and have some water damage in repair. Grass overall is prone to flier lies outside the fairway which can make club selection a trick, but comes with the territory. Unfortunately took 5 hours where the wind on some elevated holes kept groups stacked up on tee boxes. Fun course. Love coming down from LA to play every once in a while.
Thank you so much for the review! I can't disagree with a single thing you said as pace can get slow at times and the 11th/12th holes are still in repair mode from the storms of the winter due to the high ground water levels. Can't wait to have you back for another round!
Fairways are trashed
Poor water management 6 of the holes are unplayable and many of the tee boxes aren't even level and they raised their rates?? On a positive note the staff especially the bartender were super friendly.
Appreciate the kind words about the bartender, wish we could have done a better job of meeting your expectations. While there are a couple holes which we are dealing with water issues from extreme high levels of ground water, we are working to correct the issue. There are plans in the works to level out some of the tee boxes as well, hopefully before the end of 2024.

Disaster / horrible pace of play
I’ve played meadowlark 6-7 times and it’s been fine but I will not play it any longer.
We had a 8:18 tee time this last Sunday for 4 people. The pace of play was a disaster; it was already backed up didn’t get to tee off until 8:30 and then after that there was a 10-20 min wait between holes. It took 2.75 hrs to play 9 holes; so we left. Even the foursome in front of us left for the same reason. We thought it could get better after they left but it didn’t ; it was that backed up.
No marshall…overbooked ..horrible pace of play…
We are sorry to hear your experience did not meet expectations on your last visit. We do our best to monitor pace of play and are able to keep rounds under 5 hours on the weekends the majority of the time. Hopefully this one slow round does not keep you away forever as we'd love to show you a better time.
Bar prices
Course is in decent shape lots of mud and excess water but all in all in good shape! The bar is good but had two margaritas Cadillac and it was $42 which is higher than a high end restaurant! That’s robbery’s
Thanks for the 4-Star rating. I will be touching base with our F&B Director to see if there is an issue with margarita pricing at the bar as $42 does seem very high unless you chose an ultra premium tequila option.
Good muni, bad pace of play
Course was in decent shape but man the pace was so brutally slow that we decided to call it a quits after 9 holes. The 7th and 10th had 3 groups waiting to tee off in front of us. I like the course layout and the staff was all very friendly but the pace of play was annoyingly slow.
So sorry to hear about the slow play. Our marshals do their best to keep pace moving but please give the pro shop a call if you're ever in a back-up and don't see a marshal close for help, we will make sure to send one your way.
