18 hole at Sherman Hill GC Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/24/2013
Nice day at Sherman Hills
Staff was friendly. Range was adequate. Didn’t get to practice putt and chip but putting greens seemed fine and kinda small. Fairways were decent , 15th was still flooded from Milton so they put a temp green on it. All the greens rolled nice but most of the greens are domed or the flag was at on a slanted hill . So putting was tough.. bunkers had a good amount of sand . Pace was ok, but could’ve been much better if there was a marshal. Our foursome was stuck behind another foursome and must have waited on them every hole from hole 3. One of the guy in that foursome periodically played two balls . The foursome ahead of them seemed out of site so had they let us thru , we could’ve finished in less than 4hrs. Would play this course more often but it is 75 miles from us.
Nice course
2nd time playing this course. Nice course and good layout. Challenging. It is not the courses fault what mother nature bestowed on Sherman Hills. This course will be a great play when 13,14,15 get back in playing condition. Would only recommend the front 9 currently.
3 holes in rough shape.
Overall the course was in great shape. Greens were good. Due to some flooding 13,14 and 15 were not good.
15 was playing a temp green. No signage to tell you distance etc. We understand some things are out of their control but they could have made this clear at booking and added signage to make these holes better.
Fun course and so much potential
Decided to play here as I always see it driving along I 75. Played mid morning and got out with no issues at all. Staff was friendly and clear with any possible course conditions like temp tees, cart path holes, etc. Grabbed cart, pulled up to trunk, loaded cart, wife and headed to the range. Range is nothing special but you can pull right up to it which was cool. Putting area was fine as well. Hit the first tee and started round. Course was in decent shape. Hurricane Milton has left his mark on this course. Course conditions were ok except for 13-15 which were visually damaged from Storm. Can’t hold it against the course. Fun course, decent conditions and fun layout. Will definitely play again in the spring or summer to give the course time to rehab. Course has a ton of potential if it properly heals. Will see them again in the summer.
great course for the money
Overall the course has a great layout for an average golfer. The greens need ALOT of attention as they have lots of weeds which definitely affects putting...played this course 3x and all 3x the greens are not int eh best of shape...but for the money...I will play it again
in great shape
the course is looking good. 3 holes are under repair and should be ready to go soon.
Really Good Shape
The course was in really good shape and they are still recovering from the hurricanes. Looking forward to playing again.
Decent Course, Will Return
Holes 13-15 are still being repaired, but overall had a good experience. If you are a shorter tee hitter the fairway cuts can be a little high, but mid to long distance off the tee the fairway is great. Greens are small, and some of the pin placements were ridiculously tough. However I think that was fair to offset how wide the fairways were. You have to really shank it to lose a ball here.
Staff was great. Will visit again.
Very Playable with great greens
This course is laid out with open and generous fairways allowing golfers of all skill levels to be aggressive on their drives with little fear of loosing their balls or hitting a house. The tee boxes, fairways, and especially the greens are in good shape and well maintained. The tee boxes at the 10th hole and the green on the 18th boarder water with the use of bulkheads and are picturesque. This would be a great course to host a tournament with plenty of room for galleries on every hole especially around the eighth green that has stair stepped bulkheads across the water and facing the green to watch the approaching players shots to this challenging green. This was my first time playing this course but will definitely return in the future.
In good shape
Love this course! Even with three holes closed 13,15 & 15. They have you play 1,2&3 twice.
Improved since I last played
There was some storm damage but otherwise in great condition.
Love this course
Even with 3 holes in the back closed, one of the nicest courses to play.
