18 hole at Sherman Hill GC Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/24/2013
The Course was in good shape
We liked the course but the pace of play was terrible. The group in front of us were playing 2 balls and averaged 15 min per hole. The group in front of them was even slower. The course needs a Starter and Ranger to manage the pace of play.
Much improved
The course had some rough times in the past few years, and the storms in 2024 didn't help, but the owner and crew worked hard to get all 18 holes back and they were successful.
Greens were a lot more challenging than I expected, kinda small also
Fun course to play but they need to clean up all the dead trees and get some more signs to direct you to the next tee
Nice day
The front was slow. We got stuck behind a couple of guys learning how to play. Not too bad. Luckily, they didn't make the turn. Back nine was a breeze.
Course looks and plays great, especially the hurricane-affected holes. Fairways, greens and boxes all fine.
Good condition overall
The course was in really good condition from tee to green for this time of the year. The 3 redone greens on the back 9 are looking really good. Only issue is there are still a lot of downed branches around the course but that wouldn't be as big of an issue if I could keep the ball in the fairway...so that falls on me and my ball striking. Lol
Will definitely play again...and again...and again.
WOW
We have always loved Sherman Hills, but there always seemed to be a couple of greens in rough shape. NOT NOW, all eighteen greens were in fantastic shape. If you get a chance to play this course don't pass it up.
Love Sherman Hills!
Love this course, great layout and usually not very crowded.
Fun layout and in good shape
Finding a decent course with a reasonable rate during peak season can be tough. This course fits the bill for me. Course was in great condition and the greens rolled fine. Front nine is more wide open with hills while the back 9 you encounter a tighter layout off the tee with more trees. We went off at 8am with a handful of groups ahead of us and finished our round in 4.5 hours so no complaints on pace of play. Will come back to play here again for sure.
Really slow play
We had a foursome in front of us that were horrible and slow. A ranger would have helped speed them up, but never saw one. It’s ok to golf if you’re not good but you can be bad and still play fast. The course itself is in good shape.
Good value
2nd time playing. 13,14,&15 suffered ftom hurricane. Will be back when they geg ghose 3 holes playable.
Pace of Play was abysmal
I come here often. Course is fine, but they had a senior league playing and the pace was glacial. I watched some of them tee off and the ball wasn’t going any further than 50 yards (seriously). Times that by at least 10 foursomes from hole 14-18 and do the math…I quit after 13 holes.
I have ZERO issues with the seniors playing the game at their pace. But I don’t think they should sell 18 hole tee times when they know you’re going to hit a brick wall halfway thru. IMO, offer discounted 9 instead and set expectations appropriately. Felt like I wasted my day off, could’ve played 18 someplace else.
