Arroyo Golf Club
About
At Red Rock Country Club, Arnold Palmer has created an escape from desert golf with a lush green course that forces golfers to think over their shots. As you're thinking, a waterfall could be crashing in the background. There are actually two Palmer courses here, but only The Arroyo is open for public play.
It measures in at 6,883 yards from the back tees and uses dramatic bunkering to set off its holes. The par 4s are particularly inventive, especially the 432-yard 4th. The par-3 seventh gives you great views of The Strip in the distance. The greens consistently run 10-11 on the Stimpmeter and the fairways are designed to funnel shots that are not overly wild back into decent lies.
"The Arroyo Course is what it is -- a playable course with stunning scenery and a smattering of decent golf holes," former TravelGolf.com writer Shane Sharp said. "It won't provide as memorable a round as Sin City's big-name resort courses, but the price is relative. If you're looking for a course to include in your annual Vegas rotation, Arroyo would be a nice addition, considering its conditioning and scenery."

Desert golf inside a community
Very nice course inside a very nice community. I enjoyed the back 9 much more due to less blind shots
Good times
Had a good round. People behind us kept hitting into us but the group in front wasnt in any hurry. Either way got through it . Will play it again but after i play others . Decent views . Kind of an elitist attitude from the staff considering its managed like a corporate fast food chain! Their "private status" makes you feel unwelcome at times!! Beverage cart girls were the nicest of all.
This Course is Fun
This course is wraped up in a major subdivision and you have to drive long distances between holes but the holes are surprising open and roomy. Very fun course to play and I really like the layout.
The course is appropriately name "Red Rock".
A great course with many challenges. However it does have a lot of desert areas. Only draw back was limited restroom facilities. Very difficult to get to one in the early part of course or the back nine.
Good not Great....
I play a ton of golf, at really nice, expensive courses and at less expensive course too. This is a course trying to be upscale and snotty but without the pedigree. Folks act like it is something special - their marshalls are called "course advisor" - but no advice given - just drive-bys to make us feel like we were slowing down - it would have been nice if the stodgy, surly "course advisor" would have advised us that the greens are horrible and its like putting on the moon - you all should figure out how to get rid of the acne patches of Poanna. I would never of booked there if there was one mention of how bad the greens are - no matter what the folks in the pro shop say.....
This course is nice
I loved this course but restroom at 4th hole was real strange and confusing location. I thought it was a house in neighbor. Good view of Red Rock Mountain and pleasant setting except driving for a while between the hole was not pleasant. There is no snack house after the 9 hole.
Lots of sand
Nice course lay-out. Lots of bunkers both around the greens and in the fairways. Not as narrow as I was led to believe reading other reviews, but homes can come in play on errant shots. Staff was great and the food after the round was good. Only complaints are that the driving range is 1/4 mile from the clubhouse, so make sure you give yourself time if you like to hit balls before your round, and there are some long rides between holes. Overall it was a very enjoyable round.
Senic - Overpriced
Very scenic, greens not that good. Pace of play was over 5 hours, no course martials. Sand bunkers were packed, need sand and raking. Does not seem quite as nice as it has in the past.
Awesome Course!
This course is really fun and really beautiful. Worth every penny.
nice course
this is an public 18 and not the country club course. so not as maintained as such
Arroyo
Great course. Challenging but not excessively. Friendly helpful staff throughout facility. Great scenery. Look for deals on line: we saved $100/player booking through Golf Digest site. Will definitely play this course again.
A slight dissapointment
I have played Arroyo many times in the past. The one thing I can say about this track is that it is consistently inconsistent. One time it will be in awesome condition then a month later you wouldn't even recognize it. Today the course seemed to be in very good shape with the major exception of the greens. They were just beginning to aerate them and they were covered in sand and half had already been punched. Greens were very hard and difficult to get approach shots to stop near the pins. Pace of play was great, under 3 hours for a twosome midweek at noon tee time. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I wish they would let players know when making tee times that the course in undergoing minor maintenance before hand. I may still play but at least it won't come as a surprise on the course.
Hot Deals was very worthwhile
Booked and played within the same week for a short trip. Great value for the quality of venue. Staff was great all the way around. Played with two very nice members--really helped my scores.
Windy but fun!
We caught the course on a day where there were 45mph gusts and it was my wife's first round of 18 ever! We still had a great day and loved the course. The starter and range staff were fantastic and super friendly. The Proshop folks and restaurant folks great too.
I would love to play the members side of the course and think that their layout makes much more sense, but that was reasonable. We had a great day!
Arroyo at Red Rocks
The tee boxes and the fairways were in excellent condition but the greens have lots of 'spots'' of yellow grass(?). The greens did play pretty fast. The greenside bunkers could use some more sand or a good raking job, it was very hard to hit a sand wedge lob onto the green and have it hold. The overall experience at the course was excellent although there is a lot of driving of the carts in between holes.
great course to play when not a windy day
The course was in great condition however there was a 10-20 mph wind and that created a very challenging day of play. The views were fabulous and the staff were very friendly.
One of the nice course and friendly.
The course is nice and fun. But 5 hrs it to long for the game.
Classic Palmer
We found this layout to be a fair challenge. Because of the range of tees the course could play to various individual needs. The course was in good condition, greens were fast, bunkers needed sand after rain washouts. Overall a course that could be enjoyed by various classes of holders. The staff were very friendly and the food served in the grill was excellent.
If the price is right
The greens were not in the best of conditions. You can see were they have done some patch/plugging to repair some damaged areas. What really bothered me was the bunkers were not raked. You could tell on one greenside bunker where an animal had dug earlier that morning. Also on one hole I drove just past the 150 stake so I had a shot that was about 145 to center of the green, but at the start of the round I asked the marshall if there was marked yardage on the course. He said irrigation heads had 3 yardage marks on them. The head that was close to my ball had over 200 yrds to the green. So that head had been moved and therefore yardage was wrong.
