Great Course, quite dryed out in places and soggy in others.
Eagle Ridge is one of my favorite courses in the entire Bay Area, but right now the maintenance of the course is lacking. I will guess that the Greenskeeper has a smaller crew than is necessary to keep this course in pristine, or even good condition. There are spots on the course, right in the middle of fairways that are nothing but open dirt spots, not far away will be a soggy mess as the water system is not working correctly or leaks are causing both problems. Its also possible that the controllers are giving them problems.
As I said I like the course a lot, but with some bad spots on the greens and massive dry areas in some of the fairways (certainly spots on all of them) I will only be playing there when I get extensive discounts.
The greens overall were in good shape, a bit on the slow side, as you would expect when its over a hundred degrees out and they would be cut longer to protect the course. Will I play there again, absolutely, but not for the going price on the Eagle Ridge website. I will have to get a DEAL.
Maintain the course!!!!
Eagle Ridge would be so much better if the owners would put cash and expertise into maintaining the course. The sand traps are abysmal - rocks within and the thick grass growing at the lips aren't attractive, fair or useful. Fix your ball mark signposts are needed as are reminders to rake the traps. It seems the owners are more interested in weddings and catering than building a solid golfing base. The bar is often closed during weddings – too bad golfers and the snack shack needs an upgrade in service and offerings. This facility could be sooooooo much better, it's a shame.
Always fun to play
Eagle Ridge is always a fun and challenging course to play. The bunkers and greens were not in great shape like it was 2-3 years ago. It is still one of my favorite course to play in the Bay Area.
Great round with friend
Wow I had the best round and on 18 I crushed my drive and wasn't sure I would make the green on second shot but I whaled on a 3 wood up in the air straight at the pin . I knew it landed on the green but when I got up to the green the ball was a foot and half from the hole for an easy tap in BIRDIE!!! :) I was elated also birdied the 17th with a tremendous drive and 2- 3 woods on to the green 5 feet away BIRDIE :)
The condition of greens was not so good. And some of the bankers were very bad condition.
Great course at a reasonable price
Very beautiful course. I love the way winds through the surrounding neighborhood and hills. It is challenging yet fun to play. You will have to aim at certain spots or you will be in trouble. The staff is freindly and helpful. I would play this course more often if I could. I loved the experience.
Good course, better during the weekdays
Played this course during the weeekday and it was dead. Nobody else there. Pretty cool really. Beginner golfer so it was nice to have time to take a shot over if needed.
Disappointed
I was very disappointed that the course was in very poor shape. I understand that the bunkers are going to be replaced and the greens were going to be punched on Monday but the fairways weren't in good shape either. I've played this course a lot and I had never seen it this bad.
A beautiful day at Eagle Ridge
The course was in excellent shape, and the weather was just about perfect. The greens were pretty fast, and the fairways were lush. All in all, a very good day.
Johnny Miller forgot
to design a course for the average player. If you can't break 80 on your home course, you are looking at shooting in the 90s here.. Its kind of a running joke - "How hard can I make this course? Let's see, I can bury an elephant on this green, two zebras under that one, take away all the safe outs where greens are next to water or barancas. Force people to layup on par fours. Require a 190 yard uphill tee shot to a steep, tiered, trap-bracketed par 3 green FROM THE WHITES.
Yeah. It's like that. I and I really like it. If you like to drive the ball, this is your course. If you can't drive the ball, stay away.
I wish they weren't hurting for money. The sand traps really need some attention. They used to have a machine that groomed the traps. No more...thats for sure. The greens were in nice shape, true, and slick, for the most part. Several have been infected with fungus. Fairways are very nice.
Good round trying better driving
The course was good first time had to wait for some fuddy duddys they finally let me play threw. Had some tremendous shots in fact my straightest longest drive ever. Had some magnificent 58 degree chip shots right next to the pin. My 3 wood was a laser with much length and accuracy. In fact it looked almost like a pro was shooting it. Had some real good reads on the green undulation shots. I am happy lost more balls than I like to trying a little more power on the drive. and trying different clubs than I usually would use just to test my length. I shot a 78 . 39 on the front 9 and 39 on the back at least I was consistant
Good course. Horrible bunkers
I love this course and play it frequently. The one draw back is the sand bunkers are in serious need of repair. The pro shop need to start telling people to treat them as grounds under repair. Pace of play is bad. Many 4-5 person groups and old people. If you are going to play bring a lot of beers because you will be waiting.
Open front,narrow back
Group in front of us played very slow and was more interested in finding balls.Sand traps in poor condition.Other then that experience was enjoyable.Staff was excellent
Good shot...
The course is in great shape with amazing greens.
I would play again.
