Open front,narrow back
Group in front of us played very slow and was more interested in finding balls.Sand traps in poor condition.Other then that experience was enjoyable.Staff was excellent
Good shot...
The course is in great shape with amazing greens.
I would play again.
No sand in bunkers
The course is nice but lacks the crew to do more than mow.
Great course
This was a very challenging course and we really enjoyed ourselves. I look forward to coming out here and playing this course again.
Tournament held us up
We did not realise that a tournament was going on in the morning we booked. We started on time...but were soon backed up by an extremely slow tournament ahead of us... five and a half hours to play 18... there were often three groups waiting at the t-box.
I would play again, but think with the delays we encountered the price was way too high....
Sand traps under repair
Eagle Rudge Golf Course is located in the beautiful hills above Gilroy, Ca. Been on my bucket list for awhile. We were informed upon our arrival that the sand traps were under repair and that we could either hit from the bunkers or drop the ball on the side of the trap no closer to the hole. That was a gift for us since we were playing here for the first time. Fortunately, I only hit into one bunker. The greens were extremely fast with many undulations. Very difficult for a first time player here. Had many lip out, as the pace was extremely important. Very windy in the late afternoon made for some challenging shot selections. All in all was a great experience.
Bunkers unplayable
We should have been informed that the bunkers were unplayable prior to reserving our tee time. We would have selected another course had we known. Very disappointed in the lack of information shared.
Beautiful course but slow play may ruin it
A computer problem, sand traps in bad condition and slow play was not going to stop me from having a great day at this nice golf course. An easy front nine gives you plenty birdie opportunities but the back nine will likely make you give them all up. Greens and fairways are nice so keep your ball in those areas at all times. Rough is 3 feet of grass so forget finding your ball if you land there. Hole 11 is pretty but make sure you don't get lost getting there. Take an extra club for your approach shots to account for wind.
Great course but expected 5 hour plus rounds.
This was the third time my buddy and I played this course in the last 2 months. The course is in great shape with amazing greens, you can teplace the take pride in their fairways and greens. There were some issue with the course the bunker were inconsistent some were filled with super dry soft sand while others ranged from crusty with a lot of rock in them to a wet soggy mess. The it was hit and miss on if the ball washer would have water in them let alone soap. The rate of play was rediculous what should have been a sub 4 hour round was over 5 hours. We were stuck behind a group of 6 who were playing beyond slow and claimed to be held up by the group of 3 ahead of them. The Marshall finally showed up on the 13th hole and after talking to the 2 groups told my buddy and I to just take our time and practice chipping, putting, and maybe play two balls of the tee. Not what you want to hear. If you play here expect a loooong round. If you don't get a deal on the course it's not worth the price tag.
Too slow
We walked off the course after 3 hours and we had only finished 9 holes. They overbooking the tee-times and had zero marshaling to move groups along. Not an enjoyable afternoon.
Great Spot
This course is awesome. I have played this course many times over the past 10 years and it is always in great condition. The pace of play is usually great I have only had an issue a handful of times. My friends and I always check Eagle first before we book anywhere else.
Big multi-tiered greens. Some narrow landing areas off the tee. Several deep faced bunkers around green . Great Views of the valley! Nice practice facility as well. Definitely going back
Tough Love
If you are not a single digit handicap make sure you bring some extra balls. Some holes are wide open but can get tough around the greens. Others have narrow sloping fairways and no easy par 3s. Over all the course is a fun challenge. Lots of scenery and wildlife in a upscale neiborhood.
