Must check out for the surf

My cousin and I were looking for places to play that was a halfway point for our commutes. We found Whisper Creek. The course and staff were awesome. They also have the Golf Boards that were totally cool to ride. The fairways were very forgiving, and the greens were in great shape. The pace did slow a bit about halfway through, but the staff was very accommodating. On a picture perfect day, it was a great day to play hookie. Really enjoyed the experience. Will definitely be returning to head out on another surf!

Not bad

Staff very friendly but as another review noted, took a long time to check in! Tough to evaluate conditions as the greens were just aerated. (They gave us an extra $3 off for it.) Tees and fairways seemed about average. Pretty good layout but only a couple really memorable holes. Reasonable landing areas and not too much trouble off the tee, I was able to use driver on every hole without thinking much about it. However, if you miss the fairway you won't have a level lie. Halfway house and beer cart seemed a bit pricey. Overall a little less than I expected, based on what I'd heard, though I wouldn't hesitate to go back as long as the greens fee is competitive.

Greens

Somebody dropped the ball. They were doing the greens with all the plugs beibgg removed and sand all over the greens. The staff was very apologetic and gave us a free bucket of balls. I am quite familiar with the course as I have played it many times and it is a good track. There should be a system in place for golfer notification when this situition comes up, as it frequently does at this time of year.

Slo...slo...SLooow

The course was in good shape...the value was good...the staff was friendly...how ever if you are looking for a 5 hour round this is the place....at one point there were 5 groups on a par 5...I timed it and I waited 12 minutes between a shot...called the pro shop and there was no relief...I think this is common...so be aware!!!

Great course if they could remember your name.

My family and friends and I have been golfing here for years; one to four rounds a year on average. My parents even live in Del Webb where the course is based. It's a challenging course if you stray off the fairway with lots of prairie grass and such but overall a well landscaped and pretty course with great cart paths.

Our only real complaint is when you check in they want full contact information for every player whether you book through Golf Now or not. Every single time we check in they ask us all the same questions which takes about 10-15 minutes to check in a 4-some. RIDICULOUS! I get coupons mailed to me from this course so I know they have my information. When you book a reservation with their pro shop they ask you for the same information and yet inevitably when you check in they still have no idea who you are. Very unprofessional! Guys, learn how to use your own software or abandon the effort because you are embarrassing yourself and upsetting us at the same time!

A must play

Absolutely wonderful course. Pick the right tee box and enjoy a great day.

A couple holes that course knowledge helps. Take a drive and look at your landing areas.

Have fun

Overall a great course and excellent facility

When you play Whisper Creek you're going to get everything you're looking for in a round and then some. The Staff is friendly, the course is challenging yet fair and though relatively flat, the layout and appearance remain highly enjoyable with a nice blend of style. If I have a negative to deliver it would be that a few of the greens had some condition issues but were remained very playable and consistent enough. I had to fix a number of ball marks not my own, but these days there seem to be a large number of golfers who just don't care to repair their ball marks, replace or sand their divots, or rake the bunkers. This is hardly the fault of the course but they may want to remind the players with signs and suggestions by the starter or ranger.

Getting back to the course, you'll find your longer par 3's, one with a considerable forced carry, and your shorter par 3s that are still heavily guarded by bunkers and an elevated green which will force you to make that quality swing. You'll have your shorter par 4s that may put you close on approach but the green will be smaller and with trouble all around will again be absolutely forced to execute. Some of the longer par 4s will make you give it all you've got just to be in the vicinity of the green. #16 is a long and straight Par 4 which you absolutely must keep left to avoid your ball running into the water on the right as the fairway is pitched that way however what's to the left? Only a huge bunker which will most likely dash your chances of reaching in two. Once you arrive, that green is as difficult as you would ever want after what it takes to reach it and you must land your ball in the vicinity of the pin or suffer the consequences.

Three of the par 5s I'd like to play over and over again, #8, #15 and #18. Each ask for a solid drive and good placement because if you don't, you're looking at a lay up second shot or a risky attempt to clear. Even then, does that put you in position to reach the green and still have that chance at par? You just have to be on your game all the way in.

After the round, the clubhouse at Whisper Creek is a great place to relax afterward indoors or out. The food is excellent, and so is the service. The prices? as good as you'll find for the quality and if they are on the appetizer menu, definitely try the "ribblets". So good!

Bottom line, Whisper Creek is worth the drive, worth your time, a lot of fun, and I'm guessing that you'll want to return as I certainly will.

Very nice course but speed of play was awful. No ranger to come around and speed up some of the slower groups.

Love this course-but

I love playing this course but last Sunday we teed off at 8:24 and it was a five hour round. I don't understand why it should take five hour's when teeing off that early-there were marshal's but I don't believe they were doing anything to pick up the pace, the other thing were the ball mark's on the green, I must have fixed at least 100 of them.I know the course cannot be everywhere but please tell people to fix them when you start - almost all of them were fresh from the groups ahead of us. I really enjoy playing this course and will be back but five hour's is unacceptable.

Challenging course - target golf

The course layout rewards golfers who can control their shots. From the white tees you don't need to be a bomber to score well on this course. Very scenic with lots of rough and water. Only negative are 2 par 5s which require a mid iron layup off the tee - here being a bomber would help. The sand traps are being repaired so when we played it was pick clean and place in the traps. Course has a good driving range and putting green. The staff is friendly and professional. Course has GPS through an app and the carts have plug ins for charging your phone.

Restaurant is a franchise operation of average quality and higher than average prices.

I have played Whisper Creek Golf Club in previous years and found the course to be well maintained. However, this was NOT the case when I played there in the middle of May, 2017. The greens had a disease like appearance, dandelions, some over 1' high, littered the course. Weeds were also growing in the unkempt bunkers which had a miniscule amount of actual sand. The grass along the edges of some fairways, not the rough, apparently is no longer being cut either. The course has potential, but is in dire need of maintenance.

Whisper Creek 4/14

The round was relatively enjoyable; pace of play dragged at times, but the course and greens were in fairly decent shape, considering the early part of the season.
