Challenging course - target golf
The course layout rewards golfers who can control their shots. From the white tees you don't need to be a bomber to score well on this course. Very scenic with lots of rough and water. Only negative are 2 par 5s which require a mid iron layup off the tee - here being a bomber would help. The sand traps are being repaired so when we played it was pick clean and place in the traps. Course has a good driving range and putting green. The staff is friendly and professional. Course has GPS through an app and the carts have plug ins for charging your phone.
Restaurant is a franchise operation of average quality and higher than average prices.
Fun day on the Golf Course
Played the course because of the Golf Board. Great day on the golf course.
Whisper Creek 4/14
The round was relatively enjoyable; pace of play dragged at times, but the course and greens were in fairly decent shape, considering the early part of the season.
Great Course ...
Challenging but enjoyable ... very well maintained.
Deteriorating
We have played this course several times each year, but this year the course conditions seem to have been deteriorating. We are normally a group of 8-12 guys that play a different course every week. This has become one of the least desirable courses on our list and may get moved off. Not just based on conditions in Nov., (expected to be rough) but the last 3 or 4 times there this year.
After our round we all like to enjoy a drink or 2 but when you go into the bar and sit at a couple of tables, the waitresses make you feel like you are not welcome and prefer not to wait on you because you are not ordering food, even though the restaurant is only 1/2 -3/4 full. Bottom line is it use to be much better. The only reason we went there is because of the last minute good deal on Golf Now.
this course doesn't like golf now users!!
The staff was rude and unfriendly!!
Divot marks almost completely covered greens making difficult to putt.
This course has great features
Nice Gourse, Service, Shop.. etc.
Hot day, but worth it.
With the temps in the upper 80s it was a hot day, but the course was worth being a bit hot to play. It has a good layout being a bit challenging, but not overly so except for the last hole where the carry over the water is really too much for just about any woman golfer (hint--aim right for the narrower space to carry.
Whispering creek
Great course, great holes, great conditions. Only down side is we had a five sum on the course with two smaller kids. Really slow down the pace. Other then that the course is great with great staff
Really nice course and facilties
Nice course with good tee selections for all levels of players. You can rent golfboards rather than a cart.......made it a lot of fun for us.
We are happy that you had a great time at Whisper Creek. A lot of golfers seem to love the new Golfboards ! They really put a fun twist on the game. We hope to see you back on the course soon!
Great Deal
Played in the early morning to avoid the crowd, which seems to be the biggest complain the locals have about this golf course. Early bird gets the worm - and an excellent deal for golf. The head pro is a good guy and took some time to help me out of bit. The gentlemen at the front counter was most helpful and courteous and helping us make our way to the first tee. Great facility for putting and range as well. Only complain I have are that 2 or 3 holes are a bit strange with strange angles to stay on the fairway or less than ideal set up / layups that are awfully tough. Pick your tee box wisely as the course from the tips can be quite challenging. Lastly, the greens are all pretty flat. Most of my putts were no more than a ball and a half outside the whole. Great if you're looking to make tons of putts, no so great if you're looking for greens with "character". Do try it out if you've never been out there. Worth the 45 minute drive in my opinion.
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your round at Whisper Creek! Thanks for coming out to play and we look forward to seeing you again soon!!
Surf the earth
Great staff, great course, and unbelievable fun GolfBoards that not only enhance the golf experience but uphold the traditions of the game, speed up play, and truly make Whisper Creek an amazing experience.
Thank you for the awesome review! We have been getting a lot of great reviews about the Golfboards and are glad that you got to try them out! We hope to see you back at Whisper Creek soon!
Slow Play
They overbook their tee times and it was pathetically slow. We couldn't handle the pace of play and left after only 8 holes. We hoped that by skipping the 9th we might be able to get in front of two slow groups, but there was someone on the 10th tee. I had my best round of the year going and still couldn't handle playing at that pace anymore. We really think twice before booking a round here. The course has a nice layout, but nothing is worth playing 8 holes in 3 hours.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are sorry that the pace of play effected your round. We do understand that pace of play is important to every golfer and we are actively working on ways to improve this aspect of the experience. We experience a high volume of play, especially on beautiful sunny days, like we have recently had. We want each guest to have an enjoyable experience and would be happy to speak with you about which tee times will likely result in the quickest pace of play. We hope that you will come back soon and play another round at Whisper Creek!
This course is in excellent shape
Our group played on Memorial Day @7:36
The staff was friendly and the course was in great shape.
Pace of play was extremely slow. Our group waited on the tee and in the fairways on each shot. The group in front of us did not wait on a shot until the 16th hole. The course did not have a ranger present to move play along. Very disappointing . We are used to playing in less than 4 hours , this round took 4 hours and 50 minutes. Way too lung for a 7:36 start.
First experience
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the layout, and the challenge of several holes.
We are glad to hear that you had a great time at Whisper Creek. We are always happy to hear that our guests our enjoying our friendly staff and our course. We look forward to seeing you back at Whisper Creek soon!

Poor course management, 6 hours to play a round.
The pace was slow that every par 3 had at least 3 groups waiting. From the 2nd tee thru 18, our foursome waited on every hole, even after a group quit on 14 due to the slow play. Too many golfers on the course.
Course is in great shape for March!
First off, I have to say that for it being early March when I played the course, it was in great shape. There were a few wet and muddy spots but that is to be expected early in the year. The greens weren't fast but rolled fair and true. Overall, the course was well manicured and that made it a pleasure to play this early in the year.
I have a love/hate relationship with this course. I love how the course designers "ease" you into the course on both the front and the back 9. Water doesn't come into play until hole 4 on the front 9 and hole 15 on the back 9. I also love that fact that even though most of the course is lined by homes, the landing areas off the tee are pretty generous. You really have to slice or snap hook a ball to end up OB. However, that also brings me to the part I "hate" #more like a strong dislike# about this course. While the landing areas are generous on some of the holes, there are just other holes that make you scratch your head when you stand on the tee box. The course designers made three of the four par 5's near impossible to go after in two shots. I'd consider myself a big hitter and still cannot even begin to thing about attacking these holes. Holes 8 and 15 #both par 5's# pretty much force you to hit something other than driver off of the tee due to water coming into play. In doing so, you are still left with 300+ yards to the green.
Even with disliking several of the holes on this course, you can't beat the price of a mid-week round. Pace of play can be downright horrible at times, but on the day we played, we hardly saw another person on the course. My recomendation would be to play it early in the day before the course starts to fill up. The employees I encountered were cheerful and helpful. Also, they have golf boards for people to take out! I'm going to have to try one out the next time I play a round here.
In my opinion, if you live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Whisper Creek is a course worth throwing into your rotation or at least coming out to play once. I know I'll be playing here a few more times this year.
I have played Whisper Creek Golf Club in previous years and found the course to be well maintained. However, this was NOT the case when I played there in the middle of May, 2017. The greens had a disease like appearance, dandelions, some over 1' high, littered the course. Weeds were also growing in the unkempt bunkers which had a miniscule amount of actual sand. The grass along the edges of some fairways, not the rough, apparently is no longer being cut either. The course has potential, but is in dire need of maintenance.
