16th par 3 Photo submitted by lb1golf on 05/04/2014
Very scenic course with a good layout, and very nice staff and restaurant
Enjoyable day on the course. We got there earlier than our tee time that we booked through GolfNow. They let us go out at that time which helped with our schedule that day. The course was in decent shape, and I'm sure it gets better as it was early in the season. The staff was very nice, and accommodating. We went in and had lunch in the clubhouse before leaving. Food was excellent, and once again the staff was very friendly.
Very playable course for all handicaps. Above average restaurant on site. Friendly and competent staff. The course is well maintained. A great golf value.
Very hilly, really nice golf course
This golf course rewards accuracy! The tee boxes fairways and greens were all in very good shape. There are plenty of trees and water that will cause you problems if you get off line. The hills start on hole #4- very steeply uphill, then #5 is very steeply downhill. For the approach on #4, add at least two clubs to get up that hill. On the tee shot on #5, stay to the right side of the fairway or you may get to the lake on the left side at the bottom of the hill. On #6 stay as far left as you can on your tee shot so you can get around the trees on the right on your approach, and the fairway slopes severely left to right. On the par 5 #9, the fiarway gets very narrow close to the green, you might want to play your second shot short to keep it in play. Hole #11 should be easy if you stay left of the fairway bunkers on the right, but gets tough if you leave it out right. The par 5#14 is a great risk reward hole. Keeping it out of the trees on the right is imperative.
All in all a really fun course. Liked it so much we went back a few days later rather than finding a different course at the lake.
Course has great personality
Very much enjoyed my round, course was challenging with lots of personality. Would not hesitate to play again!
Men's fall golf get away
Very nice course with challenging layout. Greens in great shape and very challenging. Only issue .. would have been nice if maintenance staff focused efforts on blowing leaves off greens rather than tee boxes. Definitely play again.
Challenging great course
Excellent course. Will definitely be back
What a Treat
I have played here multiple times over the years and it is a treat every time. I have been fortunate to be able to play a lot of top courses in the country and this is still a must play when in the Ozarks. The creativity of the holes are great. The people are very nice and helpful.
Great course
We had a great time the course was a pleasure to play challenging but fair
Bear Creek
One of my favorite golf courses, great layout, good restaurant, very friendly to Seniors and guest in a heavy tourist area.
Great conditions for late August
Most courses in the Midwest tend to struggle with the heat and drought conditions of late August. The rough was in great shape and the fairways were perfect. I also enjoy the fact that the greens and bunkers were well taken care of. It was an enjoyable round of golf.
Challenge but fair
Wow what a course. Challenging of the tee box. Greens were rolling great.
Hills and Valleys
Beautiful layout through the mountainous terrain is both challenging and scenic. With exception of one green the course was in great shape. I look forward to playing it again.
Great bang for your buck
Course layout was great. 5 to 7 greens needed a lot of work, only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. The course is extremely beautiful and scenic. Elevated tee boxes make it a bit challenging and hard to judge distance on several holes. Overall I was impressed. Also the restaurant food was amazing. Both breakfast and lunch. Very, very good. Range is irons only. Definitely worth it, fix those greens boys!!
golfing test
This course will test every stick in the bag and about every type of shot. The rough is really thick so stay on the fairway. Some holes the driver should stay in the bag if you want to score. One of the top most difficult courses in the Ozarks. Very pretty course layout. Played it two days in a row which i suggest before you make a judgement call. Great time.....thanks
Best course at the lake
Played them all and bear creek valley is in better shape than any course at the lake of the ozarks!!
Hidden little gem
Lovely golf course. Will be playing here more. Just remember only irons at the deiving range. Also remember to look closely in the rough if you miss the fairway, it is nice and deep. The course does not wrap at the turn to the clubhouse but a nice snack shack is there.
this bear is in the ROUGH
upon arrival i find my 1pm time is still on time even though i am following a 12 noon shotgun outing .i am told it is a 4:15 hour round or so, but it took 4:45. "there is a marshal for each side" never saw one on the back and took 2:45 to play those 9. the counter person tried to charge me again for my hot deal rate., $4 for a small bucket on an IRONS ONLY RANGE? there is an almost dangerous level of play with a very close proximity of greens to tees and adjacent fairways. if you hit a tee shot that even rolls in the rough you may lose the ball. VERY long deep dense rough. interesting layout with some fun holes, but heard a LOT of balls bouncing off trees and had many people crossing through my fairway looking for their ball
