StoneRidge Golf Course

About
Elevation changes are the name of the game here with swings from the tees that could make the most even-keeled soul feel Vertigo. The drop from tee to the fairways is as steep as 350 feet. The stretch of 12 through 15 is particularly height challenging. Designer Randy Heckenkemper likes to compare his course his course to a roller coaster. This for a high season $55 greens fee that wouldn't even be enough to get a ticket into some amusement parks.

Stellar course even better staff!
This was hands down the most challenging course I have played. With that being said the whole experience started off with a great staff being beyond friendly and helpful. They help you understand the course and even provide a book that had details about each shot. They helped make sure my wife and I who was celebrating our anniversary wasn’t paired with the single player in front of us. They went above and beyond.
As for the course lots of elevation changes from tee boxes to fairways to the greens added a depth of challenge I have not faced. Hitting from tee boxes of desert landscape at first was nerve racking however, reading the book and making shots that are suggested helped ease that. The scenery is beautiful mountains, hills, and even snow caps off on the distance. Hole 18 is a beast with two turns a left then a right all dropping a lot in elevation it will eat you up if not careful! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to step out of comfort wide open fairways and step into something that will make you question each and every shot.
Beach Sand
Not sure why they decided to just dump beach sand into their bunkers but it is impossible to play out of them. Being from Florida I’ve never had a desire to go to the beach and hit wedges. Luckily for me Stonegate allowed me that privilege. Not all of their bunkers are this way. Mostly the back on holes where they “improved” their bunkers. Bad decision.
Stoneridge
Course conditions for time of year are great. Can be cold check the weather before playing. Just a great place to play holes are challenging and take driver out of your hand . Long and short iron off tees is a must to score. Greens run fast and true.
Stoneridge
The course is in great shape for the time of year. If going to play from valley take layered gear it’s colder up there. The greens were quick and some a little bumpy but still a great course with interesting holes. Pace of play is perfect and not an issue. Highly recommend playing course.
Do not use GolfNow
Excellent condition, beautiful scenery and friendly staff. Very challenging course. Bring your short game. Do not use golfnow, their times do not correlate with Stoneridge. We booked a time for 9:00am and Stoneridge had us at 9:45. They said it is a common issue with golfnow and are trying to fix. Go straight to course website, get a better deal then golfnow anyways.
Keep it in the fairway!!
I look forward to playing your course every year while visiting a few of my golfing pals, and we all agreed the rough was ridiculously high this year. We understand that must be the courses defense because it’s not all that long. But you will pay if you are just slightly off the fairways.
Beautiful course, friendly staff, a great time even though it kick all our a*•>>. We highly recommend.
Stoneridge
What a great course the design is great the holes with challenges make it better. The best grouping of par three’s a challenge on each one. It’s a must play if you live in Arizona or anywhere else.
I love this course
It was in great shape. Amazing layouut.
Pick your shot
Ridge playing and landing areas are key on this rolling course. Take a few extra balls for those spots. Washes are dangerous with sharp rocks, sticky bushes that pull at you and your clothes and yes dangerous crawling creatures. But it's rewarding when you hit your spots. Have played it many times and will try again over the holidays .
Stoneridge
Course was in great shape and weather was perfect. The pace of play was good and greens rolling very true and speedy. The value was great booked a hot deal. The views of the surrounding vistas was incredible. Cannot wait to play again.
Best course in Prescott
Absolutely loved this course, possibly the best in Prescott. Amazing scenery, challenging holes; I drove from Gilbert AZ (2hrs) to play this course and I will absolutely make the drive again. HIGHLY recommended!
