del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Difficult beauty
The course is really pretty and challenging. Course management is a must. Only issue is many bunkers just don’t have enough sand.

Accuracy Counts
Course in good condition with greens running a little slower than I remember. The course requires good shot making and most importantly thinking about the shot you need to make.

OK value for your dollar
Very nice layout, makes you think and hit some good shots, but doesn't beat you up. Biggest disappointment, which is typical for public courses anymore, is the bunkers are barren rock patches.
Great staff, great clubhouse bar and restaurant.

Fun to play, great views, greens in great shape!
Course in good shape, though a little dry in spots. Greens in excellent condition. Interesting layout, lots of rolling hills, beautiful mountain views. Several water features, but easy enough for even a novice like me! Traps had little to no sand, so playing out of them wasn't terribly hard.
I would say a very good course for a novice or intermediate player, and I ended up being paired with a couple of nice guys ad hoc, and had an excellent day!

I enjoy playing Del lago very much and have been playing here for years, the only reason I gave it 3 stars was just because during this round the conditions were very dry since they’re getting ready to overseed and it was still the same price as it was a month ago when the conditions were much better. I’ll still come back to play here in the future!

Amazing course layout
A truly beautiful course that was well maintained and very fast play speed. Other than golf, there was lots of AZ wildlife on display, which was a highlight for me. Will definitely come back in December with my family.

Ranger wok needed.
Good course 4:40 minute round. 2 4somes we're doing a home grown tournament. 3-4 groups on 7 of 9 holes on back waiting on them. Ranger drove through repeatedly and nothing changed. Other than that great course.

Overpriced fees!
It’s a good course not an excellent course. Compared to other courses in the area with similar quality and facilities, this course it’s a little overpriced.

Seen better days
I have been playing at Del Lago since 2007 and as our golf superintendent changed this year our greens have become quite inconsistent and no longer are being rolled which is a bummer. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner a few times and learned that he was committed to new bunkers and removing some of them that aren't really in play for easier maintenance moving forward. I even paid an extra $500 in my membership this year to offset the cost for this work effort. However, the work was never completed but they kept the money just the same. If you play with decent irons I would play elsewhere as your clubs will be damaged hitting out of the bunkers as rocks are simply to common place.
I do hope that things improve as I live so close to the course and have enjoyed the people and the layout has so much opportunity but am not sure ownership sees it the same way.

Was Much Better In The Past
This is the course I’ve probably played more than any other over the past 15 years or so. There was a time when it was probably my favorite in the Tucson area, but upkeep has gone downhill a bit in recent years. It has an incredible layout and variety of challenges. If they were to invest some money and give it a refresh I think it would be nearly world class.
