About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Improved conditions
I haven't played here for a couple of years, primarily because the price seemed to increase over the past couple of years. Booked and played on a hot deal.
Conditions seemed greatly improved since last time I played. Greens firm but no bare spots.
Clubhouse and bar staff friendly and professional.
Friendly starter gave my friend who hadn't played here before tips on some of the trickier holes. Busy day, but peace still decent.

Get some sand for the traps !

Almost destination golf
Interesting layout, condition of fairways was fantastic.
Greens were OK (recovering from aeration when I played), bunkers are a distaster as they have only 1/4" of sand and plenty of chunky gravel. Starter actually advised us to pick up out of bunkers with no penalty as the condition of the sand traps are so poor. Surprising considering the practice area amenities, layout, and other elements of the course are near-resort level. Also, expect slow rounds as del Lago has a retirement community vibe from what I could see.

Windy
It was very windy the day we played yet it was still fun. The starter took the cheat sheet and showed me exactly where to hit the ball for the best results. All I had to do was evacuate. Great time

Great Course
This course had a very dynamic layout & certainly 100% comparable to courses that are triple the price!!! The course was in fine shape with EXCELLENT & challenging greens. The starter, Lou, was an awesome, friendly & informational staff member. A real pleasure to talk to Lou who gave very helpful tips about the course. GREAT overall experience...plus, the hotdogs at the turn were delicious!!!

Where’s the sand?
Nice layout. Fairways, tee boxes and greens in great shape but the bunkers had no sand. Too bad.
