About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Decent conditions
Everything good, rough a mixed bag (tight lies or clumpy, or dirt and sand). Fairways fine, greens very good with decent speed. Bunkers pleasantly improved with more sand added. Bunker walls bad, but ball rarely on them. Nice clubhouse and range. Good challenging layout especially if windy. Fun day on the links.

Locals Need To Learn That A 4 Hour Round Is Acceptable
We finished our round in under 4 hours and the group of locals behind us, pushed the whole round. They apparently think golf is more about speed then enjoyment I wouldn't recommend playing del Lago unless your prepared to do it in 3 1/2 hours.
If you are playing golf with a little game going and a 4some, Del Lago is a 4 hour to 4:10 course. We play 4 times a week and that is what it is. Higher handicaps take a little longer because of the desert and difficulty of course but 3.5 hrs is pushing it. Let them wait if you are on a 4 hr pace. No Problem.

Sand traps
Many of the sand traps are in such disrepair that being in them should qualify as an automatic free drop.

One of my favorites in the Tucson area.
This was my third time playing at del Lago this year. We winter for 5 months in Marana each year. I hadn't played here since 2017; always liked it, but somehow never found the right incentive to come back. I found some great deals and times on Golfnow.com and I'm so glad I came back. Definitely one of the most interesting layouts in the Tucson area. The staff is great and the golf course has myriad challenges to keep you focused and thinking about your next shot. You can't put your game on auto-pilot. Highly recommend this course.

Bunkers were full of rocks, cannot hit out. Fairways in good shape but littered with dead vegetation on the sides, unattractive and probably a fire hazard. Restaurant closes at noon?
Worth the drive
Friendly staff, great layout and superior conditions compared to most public courses we've played lately. Tees are a little shaggy, but overseeded fairways are holding up well. Greens are exceptional -- large and undulating. They do need to sift the rocks out of the bunkers!

Difficult for amatuer
Very accommodating staff and excellent restaurant. Ttis was the first time playing this course. It is not a course you want to walk. Very hilly, developed in the bottom of ravines as it winds through the typical housing development. many doglegs, so you do not have a view of the entire fairway except on par 3s. Many hidden water hazards along fairways, especially on back nine. A multitude of bunkers, both along fairways and aside of greens make accuracy important. Bunker edges on green side are very steep. Greens are very undulating and since I played in the late afternoon, were difficult to read because of shadows. I would play again but earlier in the day and with more awareness about the hazards and layout.

No grass
Lots of ground under repair. Too far to walk to green for older people from where you have to park cart. My ball was in 5 drain holes.

Good medium quality and price choice
Nestled in a valley amount a major residential development del Lago in a pretty good layout with a good variety of hole design and challenges. The greens are firm but hold well and roll true. Some of the conditions are a little bare but they should not be in play if you hit the required shot. All in all a good choice for the area if you can get to the location which is a little southeast of town.
