About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

I could have paid the same money or less for better
I was in the Army only a few years ago. I was stationed in southern Arizona. I played Del Lago about every 10 days for roughly 5 years. For some reason Del Lago has decided to lower their standards while believing they are better than they are. It's only May; yet the fairways are 50 percent brown dry grass. There is no rough,, there is some sort of concrete like first cut, then there is dirt and rocks-the point? You hit the ball, it hits the brown grass-rolls over the concrete first cut, and into the desert. The greens are like playing on a miniature golf course. The course has a great layout. Some holes are average, others require situational awareness ( aim for the brown dead grass on the hills and use them to your advantage.) It's worth playing once for 58.00 dollars. You will know you have been robbed by the 4th hole, but you will like the challenge.

Wonderful 18 holes of golf
Staff could not have been more pleasant. Fairways and greens in great shape. Bunkers are scheduled for much needed renovation but starter let us know that from the start. Course is challenging but didn’t feel like it beat us up. Would highly recommend.

Shot Maker Challenge
Course was very well maintained except for the bunkers. For the latter most players either moved the ball for a reasonable placement, or dropped out of the bunker. Fairways were in great shape with very good lies. Greens were in great shape and rolled fast. Also the greens have many various breaks, which really need to be observed prior to putting. Also the course layout challenges each shot so that shot placement is critical. Very enjoyable round of golf.

Decent conditions
Everything good, rough a mixed bag (tight lies or clumpy, or dirt and sand). Fairways fine, greens very good with decent speed. Bunkers pleasantly improved with more sand added. Bunker walls bad, but ball rarely on them. Nice clubhouse and range. Good challenging layout especially if windy. Fun day on the links.

Locals Need To Learn That A 4 Hour Round Is Acceptable
We finished our round in under 4 hours and the group of locals behind us, pushed the whole round. They apparently think golf is more about speed then enjoyment I wouldn't recommend playing del Lago unless your prepared to do it in 3 1/2 hours.
If you are playing golf with a little game going and a 4some, Del Lago is a 4 hour to 4:10 course. We play 4 times a week and that is what it is. Higher handicaps take a little longer because of the desert and difficulty of course but 3.5 hrs is pushing it. Let them wait if you are on a 4 hr pace. No Problem.

Sand traps
Many of the sand traps are in such disrepair that being in them should qualify as an automatic free drop.

One of my favorites in the Tucson area.
This was my third time playing at del Lago this year. We winter for 5 months in Marana each year. I hadn't played here since 2017; always liked it, but somehow never found the right incentive to come back. I found some great deals and times on Golfnow.com and I'm so glad I came back. Definitely one of the most interesting layouts in the Tucson area. The staff is great and the golf course has myriad challenges to keep you focused and thinking about your next shot. You can't put your game on auto-pilot. Highly recommend this course.

Bunkers were full of rocks, cannot hit out. Fairways in good shape but littered with dead vegetation on the sides, unattractive and probably a fire hazard. Restaurant closes at noon?
Worth the drive
Friendly staff, great layout and superior conditions compared to most public courses we've played lately. Tees are a little shaggy, but overseeded fairways are holding up well. Greens are exceptional -- large and undulating. They do need to sift the rocks out of the bunkers!
