In danger of being lost
No overseed this Fall. Greens are unplayable. Chipping areas 95% dirt/hardpan. Entire course hasn't been maintained in quite some time. Unfortunate. Used to be fun track. Bargain rate still makes you feel like you have thrown your money away. Homeowners can't be happy. Sad.
Course Should be Closed or Maintained
New owners have not overseeded or provide responsible course and grounds maintenance. Fairways are brown greens have not been cut lack of watering tee box markers missing or not put in etc... Save your money you'd be better off at a Driving Practice Range than playing this course under current conditions. Was a beautiful course now it's a shame and an eye sore

Terrible Conditions.
The ownership has given up. The course conditions are the worst I have ever endured! Don't play this course until there is a change in ownership. I think they intend to sell the course to real-estate developers but the community is trying to purchase the course to save it.

The Worst Course in AZ I Have Played Ever !!!
This is such a travesty, I had not played this course in the last 5-6 years and it used to be in very good shape, this is now the worst excuse for a golf course I have ever experienced. I cannot believe that TeeOff or GolfNow allow them to be on their website, don't waste your money!! They should have paid us to play this "goat track" !!!!!

This course used to be fun to play, but it leaves a lot to be desired this year. It needs water badly (especially the tee boxes), the greens are extremely slow (they need to be mowed), grass on the fairways is either non-existent or is so deep/thick that it is next to impossible to hit a decent shot. I will continue to play here as part of the Tuesday morning High Chaparral group, but will probably not come back otherwise.

Downhill
Last played the course 5 yrs ago, and it has fallen on difficult times. Lack of irrigation has taken a significant toll. Too bad, it is a well designed course layout. Hope it revives, for the homeowners sake.

real disappointing
I asked cart guy how course was-said they are under new mgmt again, superintendent has left for Iowa and some holes needed water.
Well he was spot on, holes 1-3 were like dirt and dried grass. THe greens were also dried grass and bumpy all over. tee boxes from Gold on 2 were all dirt.
Then holes 4-14 were ok to fairly descent shape, some fairways actually had to much water on them, but at least the greens were somewhat green and rolled a bit better.
Then on 15, par #, it was all dirt and dried grass again, including the greens.
Then 16-18 were ok to pretty descent.
Only saving grace was we got ahead of the 3 slow guys in front of us at the turn and played the last 9 in just over in hour.
Course needs some work, and I would say even for $30 was overpriced.

What a joke. Whenever sprinkler problems, they turn off that area water. No maintenance. Not worth playing at all.

What has happened at Mission Royale???
So we've played here multiple times over many years. It is a bit of a drive, but the course is fun and there is usually availability. Perhaps it is due to COVID, or the community has a large snowbird population of Canadians but the course is a disaster. The first 3 holes were completely dry, brown grass, even on the greens. On the 4th hole they evidently found the sprinkler valve and sparse grass at best. The following holes were hit and miss in terms of the grass with some of the greens on the back nine being completely dirt. I'm not sure why they decided to not overseed and why they are not watering but this course usually decent is a mess. Would not recommend for this season spend a little more and play on grass.

It's a nice course with great potential as the first two holes are brown & then it greens up.. Course is rolling with wide fairways, so there's desert roll . Hole #8, although only about 180 yards, it dog legs & with water is challenging. Greens have personality. & if properly maintained would play fast
but today they were slow so although you may reach the green under par, mostly two or three putts. Good value for the green fees. Will play course again.

Groundskeeper kept us guessing - AZ is definitely in a drought for Nov 2020
We used a GolfNow coupon to get an exceptional rate for the time of 10:04 am. The driving range and practice green got me scared as it was very dry. After three holes, the course appeared to 'green up' a little/ It was obvious that holes near water features had gotten a drink. Even with the dry conditions, this was a fun course to play. I might not play it next week, but I will be back when we get some rain.

Course was in poor condition
Course was very dry with a lot of bare spots. Greens were in very poor condition.
