DarkHorse Golf Club

To pay full price for a round of golf only to find out the greens had been punched and there was sand all over the greens (sometimes a quarter inch above the surface) made it for a frustrating round of golf. Any other course I've played warns you about the punched greens and provides a discount. In addition the course was not marked very well for where you could and could not drive carts wasting lots of time having to back out of "restricted areas" that were areas in play. I won't be returning to this course ever again.

I was weekending over in the area on business and decided to try DarkHorse. Nice high tech driving range, and the course was uncrowded for a Saturday morning. Great track!! Some challenging holes but not so difficult as to frustrate. Fairways were generally in good condition but a lot of bare spots and some spongey areas. They may have some drainage issues on a few holes. Very scenic and serene environment and many nice homes made for pleasant sight seeing.

I thoroughly enjoyed my round but greens had just been aerated and sanded so putting was very difficult. That said, I’d definitely play here again.

The best course in the greater Sacramento area. Plain and simple.

DarkHorse is an extremely fun course to play, with a variety of straightforward and very demanding holes. My favorite public facility near Sacramento.

This course is by far the tops in the area for the price. the only negative about our round was we had to play the back nine twice because of fertilizing the front nine. we were not made aware of this when I signed up on golf now, nor we,re we made aware of it prior to the start of our round. only when making the turn to the front nine, were we told it was still closed. this also caused the second nine to play very slow.

Great course, layout, and always maintained. But can we get a clubhouse already!

The course didn’t have range balls available. There wasn’t a marshall present to deal with incredibly slow players. I left after nine holes. The sand traps had plants growing in them and looked like they had not been touched in weeks. One of the worst golf experiences I have ever had.

Great golf course. Haven’t been in years. Course was in great shape. No clubhouse, no bar, Hot dog stand at the turn helped.

I drive from Roseville to Darkhorse to play this amazing course. The staff are very friendly and the course layout in the Sierra foothills is breathtaking. The course conditions are generally pretty good and in particular the greens are amazing and challenging. I try to make it out once per month but if I lived closer this would certainly be an ideal home course for me.

I have played this course many times. This is the first time I was disappointed in the condition of the Tee Boxes, Fairways and Greens.

The course was loaded with overgrown weeds. The T-boxes were shoddy and had big dips. The fairways were littered with divots and no one was fixing the divots nor adding the seed mixture. The greens were not in good shape due to all of the ball marks. All golfers need to reminded at check in to fix their divots on the fairways and ball marks on the greens. This will only work if the course is cleaned up by the landscape team and the golfers help out as well.
