About
Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, DarkHorse Golf Club tumbles across a magnificent landscape that once served as a cattle ranch. The course incorporates a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. This tough layout is definitely not for the faint of heart. From short par 3s to monstrous par 5s, this course has a little bit of everything. The severely sloped greens demand accuracy and the bunkers were strategically placed to provide a multitude of shot-making opportunities. Tricky doglegs and uphill and downhill lies aren't the only challenges you'll face, there are also several water hazards that come into play throughout and an abundance of trees that make it even more difficult to navigate your ball. DarkHorse G.C. is situated 50 miles east of Sacramento and though it might be a bit of a drive to get there, local golfers consider the round well worth the trip.

Great place to Play
I enjoy this courses for the challenge and the beaut that I get each time I play here.
Great course
This is a must play!! Great design, well kept, fun and challenging course. Can't wait to go back
Darkhorse golf
Fantastic golf course. The owner takes pride in providing a quality product and it shows.
Very good quality, pace pretty slow...
This place has improved TONS!! From the Top Tracer range, then onto the tee boxes to the fairways to the greens and especially, to the sand traps. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU MR NEW OWNER!! That said, pace of play was a bit pokey (the price attracts everyone, including some really bad golfers!), and the yardages are fairly difficult if not impossible to figure out (the carts lack GPS, scorecards are not helpful and the on-course yardage markers are minimal). Probably the hardest part for those eager to spend more money after a round of golf is the fact they do not have a formal clubhouse or restaurant or pro shop. I predict this place will be AMAZING once a clubhouse/pro shop get built.
I would like to see markers/ boulders or something at 150 yards in. The paint only on the cart path is not that great. I think a few more garbage cans on the course would be nice.

Beautiful course
Awesome course. I want to go back already. The layout is great and the course is well maintained. Definitely recommend to give this course a go.
Great day of Golf
End of May was a great day. The golf course design is well planned in a beautiful surrounding area. Dark Horse is perhaps a misnomer because there is nothing “dark” about it.
Painful pace of play
This round to go over six hours on a Thursday afternoon
Service and Pace need alot of help
This is a steep price to pay when the course lacks basic amenities like garbage cans! There are no cans so people drop their trash next to the tee box.
Pace of play can be upwards of 5 hours and there has been no marshall to keep things moving along.
For the price you pay, it would be a better experience to go somewhere just down the hill. This could be a magical
Course with just a little more effort on the upkeep and friendliness.
Poor management
It’s a little weird to pull up and there be no clubhouse but only a shed to check in. It’s a good thing I had brought water and snacks because there was nothing here to get and if there was there was no one in the shed to help you with. The course was great but what was the worst part was them deciding to water 3-4holes from 3pm-6pm while people were still out on the course. We sat on hole one waiting for 15+min for the water to stop but it never did. Even if you hit the fairway you were going to get a full shower just to get your ball. On hole 9 was crappy cause to end the round the sprinklers turned on as we’re were approaching the green and we got soaked
