Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
About
The Highlands Course is probably the more stimulating of the two tracks at Wildcat GC, offering better views of the city, natural wetlands and grasses, and some intriguing flat sand bunkers. Case must have an affinity for the No. 7, because like the Lakes track, the 421-yard, par 4 hole 7 is the most difficult rated hole. Watch out for the par 5s on this one, three of which play at or above 570 yards from the tips.
Getting there : From downtown take Hwy. 288 south for 5 miles to Loop 610. Head west and find the Fannin exit, where you'll U-turn under 610 and drive east on the access road to Almeda Rd. Turn right on Almeda and the course is 3 miles further.

Nice Round(s)
Got a good deal to come out and play this course. It was hot and there was little to no breeze! My only gripe was that the greens were recently aerated and were sandy (I did not see any warning of this when I booked). The fairways were well maintained and the bunkers were even in pretty good shape. The course was so wide open, that my partner and I actually played two rounds! If you want to play into some hills with blind shots, this is a great course. I would definitely play it again.
Wildcat Golf club
Wildcat is a fun, challenging layout, not for beginners. It is always well maintained with fast healthy greens. Cost is a little higher than average but course conditions make it worth the money.
Tough but fun
The Highlands course is a well planned course, difficult layout with many blind shots and forced shots. Bring your A game and lots of shot making creativity to this course.
Great All Around
Course was in great condition, pace of play great (got done in 2:40), and the food at the restaurant was top notch. Favorite place for dad and I to go play and eat!
Pleasure
Wildcat is an excellent option for Houston area players. The course is in great shape.
My only request is that it opens GolfNow selections to include 1-4 players instead of primarily 2-4 players.
It's always a pleasure to play at Wildcat.
Target Golf - different terrain
On the plus side - good conditions on fairways and greens considering all the rain (although traps didn't drain); and the terrain is a change of pace for Houston area.
The deltas: Lots of shots are 'target shots' with many forced layups. Course also has a few 'blind shots or elevated greens where you can't see the green surface. Need to play several rounds to understand how to manage the course. Other courses in Houston area have more appeal in my view, and for $82, other options have more value.
Not a good course for beginners
Excellent Condition
Great condition. Great time had by all.
Course was in good shape considering all the rain last night
With exception of the bunkers, Wildcat Lakes was in very good shape considering all the rain we experienced last night. I played in a Little John Golf League tournament there and the course was very playable. Fairways, tee boxes in good shape. The greens rolled very nice and were quite fast. The bunkers were unplayable.
Had drinks afterwards in the grill area. Quesadillas were very good. Chicken strips were overcooked, dry and hard.
Nice challenging course
Greens are fast and smooth, fairway is in excellent shape. Even with all the rain we got in Houston lately, the course drained well and is in very good shape!
Great Course
The course was in Great shape. The WInd was a crazy all day but all in all It was a great time. Definitely will be back!
Never fails to impress any level of golfer
Playing Wildcat for another time never ceases to amaze. Great layout with some of the best undulation changes you could hope to have for a low elevation area as Houston. Greens in immaculent shape as is always the case. True roll and test for your overall putting abilities. Would love to see the course absorb the property just west of the current layout and make a true treelined 18 to go with the Lakes and Highlands as the natural vegetation there would make another amazing 18 holes.
Wildcat
Pack an extra sleeve of balls just in case! Awesome experience with NRG and the Astrodome in the distant view. Greens were some of the best I have played.
Pair Up
The gentlemen (if you could call them that) we had the NOT so pleasure of being paired with had less than desirable golf etiquette. They played ahead of us most of the time and if we made it to the green at the same time one of them kept saying " that's a give me" and putting our balls back at us. Extremely disrespectful men!
Good Friday Golf Outing
Had a great somewhat great round of golf with my out of town guest who was visiting Houston for the holiday weekend. I personally love Wildcat for many reasons, great staff from the time you drive up all the way to the clubhouse and pro shop. Felt just a little special because the young man in the pro shop knew my name (just a lucky guess). The greens are always in good condition. I had only placed the Highlands once prior to Friday but I think it's now my new favorite course.
Wasn't very appreciative with the fact that they Marshall came out to say that someone had called to say we were playing slow (never had that to happen before), where in fact the course itself was somewhat backed up at first. Overall we had a very good round of golf and my guest said they will definitely want to play at Wildcat when they return next month.
Nice course and lots of blind shots.
Wildcat Highlands course is a well kept secret in Houston. Great course conditions, lots of elevation changes, and many blind shots. Trouble abounds to the unwary and first time players. We enjoyed the course very much and will go back, soon.
Tough when windy
Very ondulated course. Tee shots are key, especially when the wind picks up.
A day of great golf!
The whole experience at Wildcat Golf Lake course was great. Looking forward until the next round there.
Nice course and well worth the money.
I had a wonderful time at Wildcat. Great course very challenging because of all the brush.
Courwse Knowledge is a premium here
Wild Cat Highlands course is a very challenging round of golf, if you have never played it before. Some of the holes are not readily obvious from the tee. Many of them could have played much easier if I knew where the fairway was. But the greens were fantastic and I really like the course, once I caught up with the son of the previous owner and finished the round with him and his friends. They helped me understand where to hit from the tee because many of the tee shots are blind and accurate distance is often a premium. The available concierge style treatment is excellent. All in all it was a great day and I would definitely go back on a golf now discounted deal. Otherwise it is pricey for me but I understand their memberships are a great deal if you play it often. And I would play it often.

Thanks for coming out! Sorry for the greens, but we try our best to get the message out there. Greens are coming along nicely, and we hope you will try us again soon once the greens recover fully from the aerification. Thanks!
