Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
About
The Highlands Course is probably the more stimulating of the two tracks at Wildcat GC, offering better views of the city, natural wetlands and grasses, and some intriguing flat sand bunkers. Case must have an affinity for the No. 7, because like the Lakes track, the 421-yard, par 4 hole 7 is the most difficult rated hole. Watch out for the par 5s on this one, three of which play at or above 570 yards from the tips.
Getting there : From downtown take Hwy. 288 south for 5 miles to Loop 610. Head west and find the Fannin exit, where you'll U-turn under 610 and drive east on the access road to Almeda Rd. Turn right on Almeda and the course is 3 miles further.

Best course in Houston.
When you step on to the first tee box this place will blow your mind. You instantly feel like you are playing in a completely different part of the world. Reminds me of playing at some of the beautiful courses at my former home in Colorado. Lots elevation changes throughout, not flat like nearly every other course in town. I love this course. It is challenging, well kept and tons of fun. The price they charge keeps a lot of the hackers away, including myself. Every so often you can snag a $30 hot deal. Pace is fast and odds are you will be paired with someone somewhat proficient. Can't say enough good things about this place, try it you will be amazed.
Great Challenging Course
If you're looking for a challenge but not an expert player this is a good course to try! There are a few elevation changes, blind shots, fairway bunkers, and narrow landing areas but this course is much more open than I expected when looking at some of the holes from the tee boxes. With the exception of a few rough cut holes on greens the course was in great shape! I will be back
Not in Houston Anymore
This is one of the only courses in/around Houston that has actual hills. Considering it's August in Texas, we knew we were going to have blistering heat, but that didn't stop us from really enjoying our round.
Pros: Pace of play was great. Course was in pretty good condition.
Cons: The practice range was the worst I've seen it in years. We played 18 holes and no beverage cart service! I've never experienced this before.
Great round of golf!
This was a beautiful course that we played last minute. Great course that was very challenging. Make sure you hit fairways are you may lose some golf balls. Lots of fun though.
Great Views From The Dump
I have always liked playing this course. It was the first time the greens and the tee boxes were not mowed (played early afternoon). Takes a great course and turns it into a yucky experience.
Always love the view from 12 green of the Dome and DT skyline.
I think good course should let you know when their greens suck so you can choice not to play. Or reduce the rate and explain why.
A Wonderful Day
For those golfers of above average ability seeking a reprieve from the ho hum flat courses typical throughout the coastal plain, This Is It! If it weren't for the panoramic views of the city skyline, one could easily forget they are in Houston while amongst the hills of Wildcat. Fantastic layout, well kept greens, fairways, and bunkers. A classy place.
Located in the center of city
When it's been raining and you don't want to wait a few days for a course to dry, book at Wildcat
Great course
This is only my second time visiting Houston, TX, and my first time playing golf here. This is by far the best course I've played since arriving. The course was in great condition, with plush fairways and fast greens. There were nice variations in elevation and layout each hole. My only complaint is there was no starter on a course at this level - surprising! I wasn't sure if I was playing with someone or not and didn't find out until the end round. Overall, a good experience however.
Great conditions
Great course, needs to be played with someone who's played it before. Lot of blind shots and split fairways leading to confusion on which direction to hit your tee shots. But excellent conditions.
Highlands
Course was in great condition, greens were the best I've played this year.
Nice find!
I was not expecting much when I got this via GolfNow. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the location. It is an old landfill wisely converted into a 36 hole complex. I played at the Highlands.
Late afternoon round. The 1st hole was crammed so I skipped towards the 10th hole and breezed my way through the back 9 in no time. Then front 9.
This reminds me of Kizer in Austin, but more groomed. The greens are great. Fairways also great!
There were some fun holes. I almost Aced the first 9 Par 3 (was that the 3rd hole?) About 178 yards and I pured a 5 iron to the front of the green, rolled towards the pin and hopped over the hole and rested 18 inches past for a tap in Birdie. STILL to this day, no aces for me.
I would definitely come back and perhaps play the one with all the water. (Cant remember the name)
Thanks for all you do!
