Greens in particular are struggling
The heat and drought have seriously impacted the greens on the Lakes course and the traps are dreadful. It appears they don’t even try to groom the traps. I played the Forrest course a few weeks ago. Those greens and the course overall were in much better condition although the traps, not so much. I hate to see this and I know they care but, the course is really suffering.
A few rough spots, but very good overall.
I have always enjoyed playing at the Eagles. I usually play the forest course, but play the lakes occasionally. The last couple of holes were pretty wet, and some of the greens are in rough shape, but not bad overall. The staff have always been very nice there.
Not worth the Money....left after 9 holes.
I drove 2 hours from Lake Mary to play at this course and the special we got on Golf Now was 75/pp and I paid for 2. The course is not worth 25 a person, there are little municipal courses that are in far better condition. The greens had dead spots with mud as did the airways. This was the worst maintained course I have ever played on. The clubhouse was old and ran down and they didn't have an on course refreshment cart. They have 2 courses that are both poor, maybe they should close one and focus all the efforts on one. The driving range was an additional fee and was basically a lake not a real range and the practice green was poor. I was so displeased I left after 9 holes as I could not even focus or have any fun due to the poorly maintained course. The fairways were not cut, not sure if they even own a mower..It was a waste of my time, gas and money. I wasn't expecting Disney or TPC level but couldn't imagine something that poor.
Great course layout but terrible condition
The course layout was outstanding, one of the toughest courses in Tampa. The condition was absolutely terrible. Every green had current repair or needed to be repaired. There a few holes where the pin location was right next to the repaired part of the green. The tee boxes hardly had any grass and if you hit in the fairways you could have grass or you could not have grass. I really hope they get this course is shape because again the layout was great but not for $75 and those conditions.
Terrible
Backed up right from the start, course was in terrible condition. Worst conditions I’ve seen in Florida not even considering the $85 price tag. Horrible all around do not waste your money. Should cost $40 to play here at most.
Eagles Golf Club
The course was in pretty good shape and it wasn’t too busy. Enjoyable day
Lakes course in bad shspe
Played on and off over the years at the eagles, lakes course is in bad shape.
Great spot to play
The lakes course is one of my favorite go to places for a round. The overall condition of the course is really good. The greens could use a little more attention, but overall still much better than some other courses in the area. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful too.
What Happened?
3 weeks previously, the course was in pretty good shape....that is why I returned 4/19/2025.....only to find some tee boxes were dirt....the greens have lots of dead spots now!! Totally not worth more than $35 now! First & Tenth holes are poorly designed, back up pace of play since they are next to each other, doglegs around water, next to driving lake.....range balls everywhere ...balls from neighboring holes.... lots of confusion for groups
LAKES course review
Pros: long, good for your hcp, scenic
Cons: spotty greens, 50/50 tee boxes, no ball washers, no drinking water
Not at all worth $70. Worth $50 at most if early weekend until summer kicks in, otherwise $30 and not worth more than 20 minutes drive time (given the amount of courses in the area)
Not a goat track but def not a priority course
Disappointed
Both courses have great layouts. But the lakes course was in horrific condition, a lot of fungus on the greens, a lot of tee boxes, sand only. It should be priced at $35. a round or less
