Great Experience, Great Price
Perfect for the golfer that wants to enjoy a better track around RDU WITHOUT breaking the bank! In the middle of a friendly and nice neighborhood that brings a great atmosphere around the course. Went 1 day after heavy rainfall and course was in great shape. Unique layout with moderate-to-very open fairways at times - greens in good shape, well-kept. Exceptionally maintained overall, no holes have dead trees or grass or other eye soars as such. Will be going much more.
Bunkers trouble
I played in a Golfweek amateur tour event at The Preserve at Jordan Lake. Although I would recommend ethos course to a friend I would advise that friend to avoid sand traps at all costs. From tee to green I was very happy with the conditions. Tees fairways and greens were beautiful. The sand traps were as bad as everything else was great. Inconsistent at best, the bunkers might have white sand or red clay. Not fun especially when touch is needed around the greens.. I’m not sure of cost but a few truckloads woul do a lot of good.
Great Course
First time playing here. Great course. Excellent conditions. Except for some of the bunkers, then again your not supposed to hit into them. Would definitely play here again.
Fun golf course
I played in August. The Bermuda fairways and greens were tightly mown and in great shape. Golf course is a fun and challenging layout for mid to low handicaps.
What an improvement!
Pleasantly surprised from my last visit.
1. Much better fairways and their lies. Great turf underneath, not very many bald spots.
2. A+ on the greens and surrounding turf. If you missed it didn't blast off into the woods.
3. D- Why can't you put any sand in the bunkers. Heck. With all the construction going on I would think you could find some, somewhere!
4. Excellent pace of play, but you still need water out there. Or at least a beverage cart.
Will return for the value and pace of play
Not great Bob
Course was dried out. No water coolers due to Covid (ironically no one was wearing masks). Kept getting pressed to play faster even though we were well under 4hrs for the round
Challenging but great layout
This course will challenge any golfer. Conservative play is rewarded and pars are always in reach. Course was in good condition, dry fairways tended to add yardage - no complaints there, after a good rain, I might expect 10-20 yards less off the tee box.
I’ve played here 30+ times and always ready for the challenge.
Great Course
As always the golf course was in good condition and the staff were very pleasant.
Aeration kills
Greens we in bad shape. Couldn't get a feel for them at all.
Get there an hour before my 8:30 tee time, informed the range was closed because no one had collected the balls from the day before. Sand traps, not unlike many other courses in the area, are atrocious and are not playable. Straight up bed rock. Is there a sand shortage? Or is business so good that no one really cares anymore? Driving by 18 before the round there was a lawn mower in the middle of the fairway. It was still there by the time I played the hole 4 1/2 hours later. Let me guess, staffing shortage? Thats's understandable but you're charging $70. Hope what happened to Chapel Ridge down the road isn't happening at this course. The starter was nice enough to pair me up with at 2some at 750 so I didn't have to putt one the practice green for an hour.
