The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club

It is growing in. The greens were in great shape and things were moving along.

We played The Preserve on Memorial Day as our course was book with a Korn Ferry qualifier. We were very frustrated not to have access to our course and decided to play elsewhere. Our club and The Preserve have an interclub later this month so we decided to head there. The pace for a holiday weekend was good. We were a twosome (the other two didn't show) and we finished a little over 4 hours. The course is not in great shape. We were so spoiled by the greens and fairways at our course and didn't realize it until we played another course. They have aerated to address the areas needing help. Also, if you haven't played the course, it is challenging. Knowing exactly where to place your shot is key. the greens were super slow. The food at the turn was really good. It's not a course I would suggest playing again,.

Overall the course was in great shape but the bunkers were filled with rocks which is not ideal for your clubs.

This course is famously challenging. Everyone has to come prepared to have a hard day but the rewards are so many that it keeps me coming back for more. The holes are visually stunning and if you are lucky enough to be able to play with someone that doesn't get angry when they loose a ball, you'll have a great round. Bring lots of extra golf balls and be careful looking for lost balls. There is wildlife.

It was visually breathtaking with lots of elevation changes. The greens were true IMO.

Playing from the blue-white hybrids on a very dry course was fun. Got some great rolls, but beware of a wet Preserve as you will be distance-challenged from the blues unless you regularly carry 240+.

The greens were lightning fast with lots of undulations. They will aerate portions of the greens and keep the pins on the other side. (Why don’t other courses do that)

When you make a birdie here it is a big achievement. Not many easy holes.

The turn can break your spirit with the 8,9,10 sequence of two 420-440 par fours with a 3-shot par 5 in the middle. No time to think about the all beef hot dog which is delicious.

My group had rain checks from a few weeks prior to play here, called pro shop and was told we could redeem rain checks and pay for only 9 holes. Upon arrival, the teenager working the desk told us they don’t offer 9- hole rates and somehow still managed to pay full price for a round. Incredibly sour attitude, not accommodating whatsoever. Every time I’ve played here, the staff has been down right rude, even at the bar coming in from the turn.

I’ve given this place too many chances to redeem itself. Despite the decent layout and conditions of the course, I will not be returning here anytime soon. Much better places to play in the area for the money.

Lots of forced carries and targeted landing areas, so if that's not your thing, skip this course. That said, it's a well-designed and well-maintained target golf course with some very challenging holes and some opportunities to put up low numbers. I like it every now and again. It's definitely in the rotation.

Played here for the first time on Sunday at noon. Range was closed when I arrived as they were picking balls so I didn’t get to warm up, however the putting green and chipping area were open.

Course plays very challenging from the blue tees. Tricky par 4’s and lengthy par 3’s. The par 5’s are terrific as well, and a true testament to your power if you can get on in two shots. The fairways were in great shape, a lot of roll out on the balls. Greens played pretty soft on the front 9 and pretty quick on the back 9. Challenging with all the undulation as well. Didn’t run into anyone on the front 9, started to get held up around hole 13, but still got through 18 in about 4:15 after a 1:45 front 9.

Will definitely be returning to this course in the future.

This course is a nice layout, very well maintained. My only complaint is the bunkers they are mostly clay and full of rocks

I have played this course many times. I’ve always had mixed feelings about this place. It’s a really tough track, but is reasonably priced so I end up playing here often. The issue has always been the inconsistency of the course conditions. Sometimes you come out and the course is in great shape and I only need to contend with the layout and my own shortcomings as a golfer. Other times I’ve played here and the course is a nightmare. Weeds everywhere, awful drainage, tee boxes and greens with huge dead spots...like they fired their entire ground-keeping staff. Late last year was one of the latter and I swore I’d never play there again. But...my FIL was visiting last week and most of the other courses were sold out for the times I needed so I decided to give it another shot. The course still needs some TLC, but it’s clear that there’s someone in charge there now that wants to improve the course conditions. While I won’t recommend it yet to others, I will come back and play here again so long as this trend continues.

Bartender was very short and not friendly!! Get a different job if you don’t treat people with respect.

This course was in better shape than most around Raleigh. The only reason I didn’t give a five star rating is they need sand in the bunkers

The greens were rolling quick and true, I just can’t ask for more than that.
