Thank you for the 5 star review! We look forward to your next round at 1 of our 3 area clubs, Chapel Ridge, Falls Village and Preserve.
Great Course
First time playing this great course. Loved the layout. Will definitely be back.
Thank you for the 5 star review! We look forward to your next round at 1 of our 3 area clubs, Chapel Ridge, Falls Village and Preserve.
Course was a little wet but not bad considering all the rain otherwise the course was in great shape. My only complaint is the inconsistent pace of the greens. Some were fast some were horribly slow.
Thank you for your feedback, We will look into this and work hard in the future to create consistency in our green speeds.
My Go-To Course
Since moving down here to NC, I've enjoyed playing The Preserve quite a bit. It is one of my favorite courses in the area. Excellent skills challenge.
Thank you for the 4 star review!
First time playing the Preserve in over a year. Overall the course was in excellent condition. The only issue was with the greens. My previous experience with the Preserve was that the greens were extremely fast and difficult. Today they were extremely slow. Very soft. You had to hit it pretty hard to get it to the hole. Although it made the course play easier, players expecting the challenge that the Preserve usually presents will be disappointed.
Still a great course to play but don't expect the greens to in a condition comparable to the rest of the course.
Thank you for the 4 star review! We apologize that our greens were a bit on the slow side, we were preparing for our annual Member Guest Tournament and had to do a few un-routine maintenance practices resulting in the grass not being mowed as tight. They will be in tip top shape moving forward.

Challenging but Fun and Fair
Overall, the course is in good condition for late summer. The putting green is way faster than the greens on the course. Fairways are in good condition, rough is nasty dense. Wish they'd use sand that doesn't have gravel in it!!!!! Tough course, you need to hit good drives (225 yds) to ensure carrying the cross ditches on your second shot on about 5 holes (Played from white tees at 6161 yds). Always enjoy playing Preserve but know I better be packing some extra golf balls!!!!!!
Thank you for the 4 star review!
Unreasonable pace!
First time playing the course. Twice we had the ranger stop by with the second time asking us to skip the next hole. We were a foursome that finished the round in four hours and six minutes. Each time he visited us we were properly within expectations for a four hour round. Both times he told us the group behind us was calling and complaining. We happened to meet that group later in the parking lot and they denied calling and thought our pace was just fine. Went from having an enjoyable round that we drove 90 minutes to experience to an overall miserable encounter. Two of our foursome had a similar experience with this course a year ago when the two tee times ahead of their scheduled tee were no shows. The ranger chased them around the course trying to get them to close the gap on the group that started play almost twenty minutes before them. Thought the previous experience was an aberration but apparently it is systemic. What a shame!!

Condition
This is a challenging golf course and long from the blue tees. It seemed as though no maintenance was done all week. The tee boxes looked like they haven’t been mowed in a week or more and nearly the same for the fairways. The greens rolled very slow even if you had a downhill putt. The green side bunkers had very little sand and made the shots very difficult. I would love to play the course again when conditions improve.

Very Nice Course - pace of Play was SLOW!
My first time at The Preserve and the course was very nice. Boarders on somewhat challenging to very challenging (played from the Blues at 6600 yards). Big greens with multiple tiers so you have to get on the right tier. Tree lined wooded fairways - so hit it straight. But the pace of play was terrible. Teed off at 9am as a 4-some, had another 4-some in front of us. Had to wait on every hole, and every shot of every hole. by 7, we could see that a hole had opened up in front of the group in front of us. Saw the ranger at 9 - he said it was not so bad and maybe 2 of the 4 in front would quite at nine. That did not happen and the back nine was worse (time wise). 4:50 minutes is too long when the group in front is not keeping up with the group in front of them. Otherwise, a very nice course and I will try again hoping for quicker play.
Thank you for your 3 star review and the feedback on your experience! I will spend some extra time with our outside staff to make sure our pace of play is consistent with 4:15-4:30 minutes.
Excellent Layout
Had a very good first experience at Preserve. Layout is great. Mid August conditions weer very good. This time of year all NC courses are working on greens and greens were recently verdicut. As such they were somewhat slow but very true. Should be great in 2 weeks. I definitely will be back.Pro in shop was not friendly. Grill personnel was very friendly.

Good track - curmudgeon-ish members...
This place was good in so many ways - tough course, good conditioning, excellent greens, tons of variation in elevation - not a place to walk unless you are pretty good shape - very hilly... So mostly positives but there were 2 pretty large negatives:
a) there were no prisms in the flag poles so shooting them with laser was pretty frustrating
b) there was a group of members behind us (7:40am tee time) that were in such a hurry that it really took away from the enjoyment of the round. I mean EVERY time I got ready hit my shot from the fairway and looked back at the tee box there was some dude who was ALWAYS standing there with his hands on his hips like we were in his way - it was pretty annoying. Oh well I guess those guys are everywhere sometimes ha ha though it was not a very nice welcome to his club :-) and we played in less than 4 hours easily... Maybe come back someday but it wont be very soon unfortunately...

Diamond in the Rough
Everything was wonderful from pace of play to layout/ design and feeling like you’re never playing a hole twice. The greens were in great shape and really rolling well. Just beware that on tuesdays they do maintenance to the driving range so if you play early (9:20am or before) it might not be available, which myself and the gentlemen I was paired with, who is an actual member, was unaware of. However, the starter was able to coax the grounds crew into setting up just enough for us to have a couple swings before we tee’d off with a free bucket as well.
Thank you for the 5 star review! You are correct we close the range every Monday at 3:00 PM for maintenance and try to have it open Tuesday mornings at 9:00 AM.
Thank you for the 5 star review!
Great Layout
Need to get the sand back in the greens that you can actually hit out of and some carts that were made in this century. Otherwise, great course. Very long and the greens were a handful.
Thank you for the 5 star review!
Challenging course
Very long with lots of trouble. Premium on shot selection and accuracy. Traps need some work but otherwise course is in great shape with firm and fast greens. A challenging course for hackers like me!
Thank you for the review, we would enjoy hearing more about your experience!
