Burntisland Golf House Club

About
Burntisland Golf House Club in Fife, Scotland, is an 18-hole golf course designed by architect Willie Park Jun. It's best described as having a parkland nature, although some holes have a links-type turf to hit off. The course is just under 6,000 yards and has a diversity of terrain.
The fun starts with three par 3s in the first six holes, but birdie opportunities abound. There's only one par 4 over 400 yards, for instance, so good length off the tee and control of mid-irons can lead to that elusive below-par score. The two par 5s are also tamable: No. 2 has a tricky two-tier green that's narrow from front to back, but 12 is much less challenging for the low-handicap golfer.
Throughout the golf course, however, control is key. Out of bounds lies to the left of the first four holes and the 18th, and to the right of nine and 10. You face a pond to the right on five, and you have to maneuver past a quarry on 12. Beyond that, the course throws up its share of trees, gorse and rough all over.
When you finish the course, check out the clubhouse, which offers a bar/lounge/dining area. The bar's open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the summer.

Hidden Gem - Gorgeous Day up on the Burntisland Hill
Hailing from Edinburgh, my partner and I decided to try a course slightly further afield given the beautiful weather. Trawling through GolfNow we came across Burntisland at a very reasonable price (I think £15-20, can't remember exactly).
From the moment we arrived, all the staff we encountered were lovely and extremely helpful. The chap who lives in the flat above the clubhouse was especially chatty.
The course itself was in terrific nick for the time of year. The greens had been recently cored & sanded which I understand is completely necessary. Some incredibly characteristic & challenging holes. From memory the 10th was a standout with it's hidden green. Also, if you catch a clear day, like we did, some of the views across the Firth of Forth are nothing short of spectacular.
Would very much recommend this place as a mid-range option if you're looking for a pleasant course, nice people and incredible scenery. Very much a hidden gem.
Well worth a visit
Friendly and helpful greeting from paul the pro
Excellent lay out and great views not too long but a good challenge. Only negative on the day was greens still had sand on and because of lack of rain we’re a bit inconsistent.
But will return again
Well recommended.
Burntisland
Brilliant course…unbelievable views
….will look forward to playing it in summer…guys in the shop were also really welcoming… superb
Great views, on a good cliff top course.
Loved this course, was great value, amazing views.
Great Course
I will definitely be back to play here, although the course ended up being on winter greens when I played, the course looked great and so did the greens.
Friendly course.
Nice course, not bad at all for a January round. Look forward to returning in the summer. Staff and members really friendly.
Burntisland Golf Club
I received a phone call early in the morning form the pro shop to say due to the freeze overnight , to say although the course was open, some of the greens were on temporary greens , I really appreciated that and more clubs should do this , very nice touch and made me feel appreciated. Any way having played the course several times before, I knew what to expect. The course has some amazing views , and the mixture of holes are difficult , but some are very much scoring holes. The Summer greens were very good for the time of year, however the Temporary Greens were playable, but were in some odd positions on the fairways, however it was still to get out for a swing and putt.
Really good challenging course with brilliant views. Have played this course a few times now and always look forward to it. The course is always looked after really well. The variation in the holes is one of the reasons to visit the course. Would definitely recommend playing this course and the pro is always friendly, helpful and passionate about the course.
Burntisland Scotland
The course was in really good condition after the rain we had I would recommend to any one to play it was very good .
Great value.
The course was in fantastic condition for the time of year, especially the greens. Good variety of holes short & long. Friendly staff member in the shop before the round made us very welcome & answered any queries fully. All in all great value for money for a course in excellent condition.
Great fun in horrible weather
Played Burntisland in very heavy rain which did obviously impact the entire course but in spite of that I have to say it was a great looking course with a some great holes and definitely a big challenge! Loved the 17th, it was very quirky and we did get lost a couple of times but all in all it was a joy to play.
I can imagine it being very popular in warmer weather with some absolutely spectacular views.
Staff in the pro shop were excellent and because of the conditions we played in, we were given a voucher for a 2 ball because he didn’t want our memory of the course being a wet one! First class service in my opinion and the food in the clubhouse was amazing! As was the service.
Even without the free voucher we had every intention of coming back to play in the new year but that was a great gesture.
Play Burntisland when it isn’t pouring down with rain and you’re in for a treat.
Sportive course with brilliant views
The course is quite sportive if you walk. Lot of up and down but inbetween you get nice views of the forth and the coastline on the other side. We will come again!
Great value for money , best in the area!
Very quirky in places , fantastic views , some holes blind , going to play again before we go back down south.
Buddies Golf
Played with 3 Buddies. The welcome from Clubhouse staff and Pro shop was first rate . Members were very friendly too. Course is quite hilly in places but with super coastal views . The course is quite short off the yellows at just over 5500 yards but because of the terrain is still challenging. .The only negative was that the greens had just been hollow tined and sanded .
Overall , a very enjoyable course.
Nice morning golfing
This course features some fantastic views over the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh. It has some interesting holes, particularly the 1st 12 holes. As the course returns to the clubhouse, the holes become more bland.
The pro shop was very well stocked and did the basic pleasantries well before we teed off. There was a practice putting green and a practice net 50 yards up the 1st fairway that we didn’t notice until after we started. Greens rolled well despite having just been cored and heavily sanded. Spoke to some members, some quite friendly although one went out of his way to tell us to move our trolleys off the edge of the heavily sanded 10th tee, that resembled a goal mouth. Greenkeepers out and about on the course albeit one of them seemed to be following us from green to green with his roller. Whilst he was courteous enough it was tiresome meeting him every other hole. That said, overall we enjoyed our day and would return for an occasional game.
Beautiful and picturesque
This was my favourite course I've played. Got lovely conditions for it and there were so many holes that take your breath away. Absolutely stunning
Worth a visit
Great condition, friendly staff and cracking views...
