Drumoig Golf Hotel sprawls across 250 acres of rolling countryside inhabited by a variety of different birds and wildlife. The dramatic landscape provides the course with plenty of loch-side fairways and quarry greens. The lochs come into play on three holes, most notably on the challenging par-3 ninth. The difficult tee shot is followed by a tricky shot over the loch in order to reach the green. More advanced golfers will find the back tees provide a good challenge while the front tees are better for beginners. Golfers will also enjoy the views that stretch past St. Andrews Bay and the River Tay to Dundee and Carnoustie. The par-5 fifth is the signature hole of the golf course. The hole, which often plays into prevailing wind, requires a strong drive and a long iron to reach the narrow opening to the green.

Nice layout, course condition could have been better

A fun layout, particularly the water holes around the turn. Would be a real challenge off the back tees. We played the green tees which were about right for a friendly Sunday game at our standard (handicaps ranging from 8 to 17). The main negative when we played was the condition of the greens. More sand than grass in some cases. On the subject of sand, there were a lot of stones in the bunkers as well. In truth the whole course looked like it could do with some TLC.

Still, overall it was a good day out at a fun venue that I’d definitely recommend if the condition of the greens is sorted out.

Also, the steak & black pudding pie from the half way house was excellent!

Greens verti cut and sanded

Just played two disappointing rounds at Drumoig. The course has surprisingly suffered from the recent rainfall, surprising because the course has a historic reputation for good dry all year round golf. The course character has changed to more parkland than heathland. Several of the greens have been micro cored / verti cut and sanded.

Starter friendly, rhythm of play poor, we played behind several groups using buggies but had to wait on every tee.

Saturday Golf

Golf course is a good test and was in good condition. The pace of play was good and there was no bunching up.

The welcome by the starter was first class.

Great challenge and superb layout.

Great test of golf. A much longer course than I’m used to playing so next time I play there I’ll take a buggy or at least a battery trolley.

Superb layout, some greens were a little patchy but ran true and were predictable.

Will play again for sure.

Great Holes at the Turn

Myself and 3 friends played this course yesterday. Stood up well to the wet weather we have been having and was in good condition. Would happily play it again.

Drumoig Golf Course 01/07/2021

A well aspected course which offers a good challenge to both the regular and casual golfer. The holes are well organised and planned out, with some challenging Par 3s and Par5s along the way which will test the accuracy of most players. All in all a very good course where a return visit is definitely on the agenda. The views of the surrounding area from the high points were stunning and the pleasant welcome from the Starter all added to the a great day and golfing experience.

Wide forgiving fairways and most greens good.

A few bald patches on some greens but didn't effect putting.

Great Course to Play

Very challenging course to play but most enjoyable. Good variety of holes. Both of the quarry holes are unique and require greater shot planning. The two water holes present the normal water challenges. Greens have improved since my last visit earlier in the year. Not a big fan of the changes underway with the 18th.

Great course - will be excellent once they sort out the greens

Great course, play was a touch slow but that’s out of our control.

Course layout is great, this is the second round I’ve played, I think they’ve filled in the water hazard on the 18th making the hole easier to play which helps to speed things up.

The starter was very friendly and knowledgable, the only downside is the state of the greens, some are really bad and they are struggling for growth to get them repaired, one - the 7th is more or less on a temp green due to the state of it, and they all need cutting, far to spongy and slow.

I wouldn’t recommend it at the moment but once it’s under control it’s a really nice course and worth £29 a round through golf pass.

Great challenge

This is a course that will give a good test to good golfers..You have to hit the ball long to have a good score. It was in the poorest condition I have played it in due to winter and poor summer we have had.
