Drumoig Hotel Golf Resort
About
Drumoig Golf Hotel sprawls across 250 acres of rolling countryside inhabited by a variety of different birds and wildlife. The dramatic landscape provides the course with plenty of loch-side fairways and quarry greens. The lochs come into play on three holes, most notably on the challenging par-3 ninth. The difficult tee shot is followed by a tricky shot over the loch in order to reach the green. More advanced golfers will find the back tees provide a good challenge while the front tees are better for beginners. Golfers will also enjoy the views that stretch past St. Andrews Bay and the River Tay to Dundee and Carnoustie. The par-5 fifth is the signature hole of the golf course. The hole, which often plays into prevailing wind, requires a strong drive and a long iron to reach the narrow opening to the green.

Beautiful Green Photo submitted by t1196176880 on 04/29/2018
Drumoig Golf
First time we played this course and won’t be the last, the course was in excellent condition and proved a nice challenge for an 18 handicapper.
Well worth a visit.
We really enjoyed our round at Drumoig GC. The course was in good condition considering all the rain we had had overnight. The clubhouse was welcoming, we had coffee before going out plus a hot meal and drinks on finishing our round. Well worth a visit.
Just Good Value
Played this course a number of times when St Andrews courses are busy. It's a good track and well worth the green fees. On this occasion the greens were too hairy for me and one of the greens is undergoing some serious repairs. But generally it's an interesting course layout.
Lovely course
Fantastic greens, well kept lush fairways. Some good mixed challenges with water and a lot of bunkers. A lot of par 5 holes. Will return.
Good course. Inconsiderate players.
After teeing off late afternoon with no one in front of us for at least a few holes, we somehow caught up to a large group of 6 all playing together on the 9th tee. They clearly had teed off in two smaller groups then joined together once away from the first few holes. From then on we were waiting constantly on slow play and time wasting despite having 3 buggies between the group of 6. Disappointed that we were never waved through even though we had to wait patiently on every tee for long periods of time. Slightly spoiled the experience of a nice day out.
Drumoig
Great course, great layout, signature holes 9, 10 , with water. Disappointed with the greens, many were in a terrible state, bare patches and sand all over the greens. The ones that were in good condition were the slowest greens I've ever putted on. The halfway house , which was advertised as open, when we arrived, was closed. A couple of our group had put off buying something before the round and decided to wait till halfway. Disappointing. Bar staff not very friendly. Food was good though. Fairways excellent.
Nice layout, course condition could have been better
A fun layout, particularly the water holes around the turn. Would be a real challenge off the back tees. We played the green tees which were about right for a friendly Sunday game at our standard (handicaps ranging from 8 to 17). The main negative when we played was the condition of the greens. More sand than grass in some cases. On the subject of sand, there were a lot of stones in the bunkers as well. In truth the whole course looked like it could do with some TLC.
Still, overall it was a good day out at a fun venue that I’d definitely recommend if the condition of the greens is sorted out.
Also, the steak & black pudding pie from the half way house was excellent!
Greens verti cut and sanded
Just played two disappointing rounds at Drumoig. The course has surprisingly suffered from the recent rainfall, surprising because the course has a historic reputation for good dry all year round golf. The course character has changed to more parkland than heathland. Several of the greens have been micro cored / verti cut and sanded.
Starter friendly, rhythm of play poor, we played behind several groups using buggies but had to wait on every tee.
Saturday Golf
Golf course is a good test and was in good condition. The pace of play was good and there was no bunching up.
The welcome by the starter was first class.
Great challenge and superb layout.
Great test of golf. A much longer course than I’m used to playing so next time I play there I’ll take a buggy or at least a battery trolley.
Superb layout, some greens were a little patchy but ran true and were predictable.
Will play again for sure.
Value for Money
Great course in great condition. A real mix in the length of holes and provides something for every golfer regardless of ability.
Great Holes at the Turn
Myself and 3 friends played this course yesterday. Stood up well to the wet weather we have been having and was in good condition. Would happily play it again.
Drumoig Golf Course 01/07/2021
A well aspected course which offers a good challenge to both the regular and casual golfer. The holes are well organised and planned out, with some challenging Par 3s and Par5s along the way which will test the accuracy of most players. All in all a very good course where a return visit is definitely on the agenda. The views of the surrounding area from the high points were stunning and the pleasant welcome from the Starter all added to the a great day and golfing experience.
Best value golf
Some greens were excellent, a few had bare spots.
But overall the course was great. you can't beat this course for value.
