Bathgate Golf Club

About
Bathgate Castle sat on what's now the 10th hole of the Bathgate Golf Club's course. It was part of the dowry given to Walter Stewart when he married King Robert the Bruce's daughter Marjory in 1328. Because of this, the club, which opened in 1907, is required to seek permission before engaging in any excavating, though "Divots are allowed!", as the club proclaims on its Web site, as were the touch-ups proposed by James Braid in 1935.
A round at the Bathgate Golf Club, where the scorecard admonishes golfers to "PLEASE AVOID SLOW PLAY AT ALL TIMES," kicks off big on Lang Whang, a 476-yarder that is one of four par-5 holes. The longest is Auld Reekie, the 12th hole, at 505 yards. The round closes at Hame, a par-4 that measures 405 yards.
Catch up on games back home or games back at Hame in the Bathgate Golf Club's lounge, which offers satellite television, a view of the 18th, and billiards and dancing for those in the mood to do more than watch.

Good variety
Good greens, a few ups and downs, but nothing too strenuous - and a really good variety of holes.
Hidden Gem
Played Bathgate for the first time today and it certainly won't be the last, the course and facilties are second to none ,have to single out the quality of the greens they were the best I've seen in a long time. Highly recommend a visit .
Quirky Course
First time playing Bathgate this weekend and was great fun. Lots of blind drives to contend with (fine if you hit it straight !) and tricky holes. Pin positions were tough for club champs being played this weekend it looks like. Greens in great condition, nice and fast.
Will be back I'm sure. Smell of food from the clubhouse was amazing from the 18th green, but sadly didn't have time to sample it... next time !
First time and will definitely return
Weather was great and the course was in near perfect condition for our Sunday 4 ball.
Welcomed by the club pro on arrival and pace of play was excellent.
Greens in great condition and thoroughly enjoyed the days golf.
Good course in great condition
Really enjoyed our round. A fair course in very good condition. Will play again.
Great day
A great day at Bathgate Golf Club. It's less than 20 mins from my door and I've never played the course before but will definitely be back playing it again.
Course was in Good condition and some real testing holes for golfer's at all levels.. friendly members who spoke to us throughout our round..
Enjoyable day out
Lovely weather, course in great condition and I scored well - nothing more to say!!
The greens were in good shape. Nice layout, a few challenging holes, overall very good will definitely play it again!
Very good course
First time playing Bathgate and certainly will be back for more. The course has a wide range of challenging and fair holes, which makes shot selection all that much more fun. Very enjoyable round, didn’t loose a ball which is even more impressive.
Excellent
Despite heavy rainfall the course was open for play and dried out well as the round went on and the sun came out. The staff in pro shop were very welcoming and friendly. We had the course almost to ourselves as the rain must have put some people off. Excellent layout and would recommend to anyone who hasn’t played Bathgate before.
Well worth a visit.
Good layout & challenging course. Visited early May hence course not quite at its best although the greens were the best I’ve played this year.. Friendly welcoming staff. Bathgate GC - thank you.
Great value
Great condition for early season thoroughly enjoyed with some old friends.
Poor customer service
We booked through the app and also contacted the course to reserve a buggy which would have been additional revenue. We checked the forecast the day before and there was a serious thunderstorm forecast at lunchtime when we were due to tee off. I called the club to ask if we could move it to first thing. The staff member said he wasn’t prepared to do that because he got no money from golf now and was forced to have tee times available. This was our bank holiday 4 ball and we’ve now lost all our monies. The golf now app doesn’t allow us to rebook so completely ruined day. I will not be rebooking at Bathgate and will not be recommending to friends.
Great day out at Bathgate GC
First time playing here and would definitely come back again. Course in great condition with some nice par 3s. Also had a small outdoor seating area so managed to get my first post lockdown beer. It was pretty busy but the groups in front and behind us were members and relaxed about the pace of play so got around in our own time without feeling hurried.
