Above Scotland's Royal Burgh town of Linlithgow sits the Linlithgow Golf Club, featuring 18 holes amid farmland and hills, and views of the Ochil Hills, Union Canal and Forth Valley. It's about midway between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The golf course measures 5,863 yards - short enough to not do too much damage to the legs, long enough to require well-planned golf shots.

A round of golf at the Linlithgow Golf Club kicks off on Drambuie, a par-4 333-yard hole that plays short and straight, with a fairway that slopes down with minimal hazards. Things get increasingly tougher: By Deli's Dio, the ninth hole, you're looking at a long par 4, measuring 420 yards. The 18th, Union Canal, is another long par 4, measuring 413 yards, where you'll need to shoot a short carry over a ravine to reach an undulating tree-lined fairway - there's that canal, too, to keep things interesting.

The Linlithgow Golf Club clubhouse offers a lounge and restaurant for dinner, drinks, lunch and snacks.

Quirky and Hilly

The front 9 tees are all over the place however we followed a pair of members and all was well. The members infomed us the layout had changed at the start of the season and was well liked by the members as the 9th hole was now at the clubhouse. The course is hilly but short allowing for high handicappers (me and playing partner) to plot our way around. The weather was fantastic on our round which highlighted some great views and pheasants walking around added to the ambience. We would play again now that we know the layout. Perhaps a map of the layout on the scorecard would be handy. All in all a lovely day out.

Staff deserve 6 stars!

The lady in the pro-shop couldn’t have been lovelier or happier to help out. This was my first time playing and the course layout had been changed so needed some help navigating. Been to plenty clubs with people less willing to help!

Despite the poor weather the course and esp greens were excellent so props to the greens keepers!

My only gripe is that the second 9 could have better signage for next tees, found myself wondering around trying to find where to go next.

Excellent course needing a bit of TLC

Loved playing this course although the first nine tests your stamina with the hills. The views are spectacular as you near the top. Interesting with two par 3s together and the only par 5s one after the other. The seventeenth hole I could have hit shots at all day. Loved it. Will certainly play again.

Great mornings golf at a challenging course especially more-so due to the very warm weather.

Surprised at how hilly this course was but pleasantly surprised as it certainly made your game exciting.

Hats off to the green keepers as the course was in great condition.

Was made feel very welcome by all members of staff

Can honestly say it was excellent value for money and will definitely play here again in the near future.
