Rating 69.3

Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.

A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.

Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

First ever 18 holes in golf

Played my first ever 18 holes of golf here on Thursday and it didn’t disappoint! As a new golfer I’ve only played on my local 9 hole course so this experience was rather daunting but the course was great, the layout is exciting some really good holes with the fairways and tee boxes in excellent condition especially during peak golfing time and great weather. The greens were in fantastic condition and very fast in play but overall it was very enjoyable and the staff were great I’ll most definitely play here again.

135 years old beautiful golf course

It’s a beautiful old golf course in Pumpherston, Scotland. The field is well maintained and still keep the same field set up. It is very worth to play.

Nice Challenge

First impression, nice bright club house, with friendly and helpful staff in the Pro shop.

The practice putting area, range and course are well maintained and all greens, as advised by the Pro, run true.

The course is quite open, but with a number of tee to green dog leg holes, lots of strategically placed bunkers and water to challenge all levels of golfer.

Our three ball, of mixed abilities, enjoyed the course and now that we have played it once we look forward to the challenge a second time.

Verdict - Worth a visit.

Interesting course

Good challenge for any handicap. Look out for the 2nd which is a challenging dog leg right and the 16th for the very brave/foolhardy who might go for the green on this short par 4. Friendly staff and nice clubhouse! Well worth a visit!!

Fantastic value for money using the app.

Very impressed with Pumpherston GC. Bought as a gift for my fathers birthday as my dad played here some 18 years ago. Starter was very friendly and helpful, just a young lad which is good to see. Course is in great condition and the greens are lightning quick. Good range of difficulty through every hole which is challenging but enjoyable. Only thing I will say is course knowledge will help your round greatly. We will definitely be back to play this course again.
